Juuse Saros - Facing Capitals on SaturdaySaros will guard the home goal Saturday versus the Capitals.
ImpactSaros has won five outings in a row and nine of his last 10, posting a 2.23 GAA and a .932 save percentage over the longer stretch. He started the year a little slow, but he's come around with his usual elite-level goaltending. The Capitals have won just two of their last six contests, scoring 16 goals in that span.

Antti Raanta - Placed on waiversThe Hurricanes have placed Raanta on waivers Saturday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
ImpactRaanta is 6-5-1 this season, but that has more to do with the Hurricanes scoring than his play in net, as he has a 3.60 GAA and .854 save percentage. The final straw came in his last two starts, giving up 10 goals on 54 shots in a loss to Vancouver and an overtime defeat versus Nashville. It remains to be seen what the Hurricanes will do with Raanta, should he pass through waivers as they could still keep him in the NHL, or send him to the minors.

Michael Bunting - Two helpers against PredsBunting notched two assists, one on the power play, in Friday's 6-5 overtime loss to Nashville.
ImpactIt's the first multi-point performance since Nov. 28 for Bunting, who managed only one goal and three points with a minus-6 rating in eight games between those efforts. The 28-year-old winger is overall having a productive first season with Carolina, scoring six goals and 19 points in 29 contests, but he's become a power-play specialist and saw just 9:55 in ice time at even strength Friday -- the lowest mark of any Hurricane forward in the game.

Stefan Noesen - Two-point effort in OT lossNoesen scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Predators.
ImpactThe 30-year-old got Carolina on the board midway through the first period, tipping home a Jack Drury shot in the final seconds of a man advantage situation. Noesen has been productive over the last few weeks, piling up four goals and eight points in the last nine games, but his lack of consistent power-play time will make it tough for him to sustain that pace.
DECEMBER 16, 2023•ROTOWIRE
Martin Necas - Stays hot in OT lossNecas scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Friday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Predators.
ImpactAfter helping to set up Stefan Noesen for Carolina's first tally midway through the first period, Necas potted his own in the second by intercepting a clearing effort in the Nashville zone and wiring the puck past Kevin Lankinen. Necas has racked up three goals and nine points in the last nine games, and while he's a little off the scoring pace from his breakout 2022-23 campaign, he's still on track to top 60 points for the second straight season.
