Skyler Brind'Amour - Earns full contractBrind'Amour signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Saturday.

ImpactBrind'Amour was on a professional tryout during training camp and has turned it into his first NHL-level deal. That said, he is likely to spend much of 2024-25 with AHL Chicago. Brind'Amour produced just eight points in 54 regular-season games with AHL Charlotte a year ago, which is a clear signal his offense is not strong enough yet to be an NHL regular. Look for Brind'Amour to be reassigned to the minors prior to the start of the regular season.

ImpactThe Predators are dressing a roster similar to what they're likely to have for the start of the regular season, so this should be a good tune-up contest for Andersen. The 35-year-old netminder had a 13-2-0 record, 1.84 GAA and .932 save percentage in 16 regular-season games in 2023-24. He's expected to be Carolina's No. 1 netminder this season, but he has a lengthy injury history, which makes it risky to pencil him in for a lot of starts this year.

Hagel could be in store for another fruitful season -- the left-shot winger is set for a top-six role and a spot on No. 1 power-play unit.
