Joseph Woll - Solid despite team struggles Woll made 35 saves in a 6-4 loss to Buffalo on Saturday. He allowed five goals.
Impact Woll was better than the stat line suggests. He made some incredible first saves, but his mates were not there to help in their own zone. In fact, the Leafs would score and then have the worst response shifts right after, getting hemmed into their own zone and leaving Woll to do more than humanly possible. He has lost two consecutive games in a straight platoon with Ilya Samsonov, and the Leafs have lost four in a row. Woll has allowed nine goals in his last two games, while Samsonov has given up six in his last two. Leafs' goalies will get a bunch of wins, no matter who is in net, and there are many who think Woll will be the starter as the playoffs approach. He's good, but that's a big stretch for a rookie netminder.

William Nylander - 15 points in first 11 games Nylander picked up an assist Saturday in a 6-4 loss to the Sabres.
Impact It extended his season-opening point streak (and franchise record) to 11 games. Nylander has 15 points, including six goals, in those 11. He and line mate John Tavares have been a highly effective duo, no matter who lines up with them. Nylander is a play-and-ignore talent -- he should never be out of your lineup unless the Leafs have the day off.

Mitchell Marner - Massive four-point game Marner scored a goal and added three assists in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Buffalo.
Impact He opened the scoring in the first, roofing the puck with a lightning release on a breakaway after taking a stretch pass from Calle Jarnkrok. Marner then set up all three of Auston Matthews' goals. It's his first multi-point game since Oct. 14 (nine games). Marner is on a six-game, nine-point scoring streak that includes six apples. This outburst comes at a great time for fantasy managers who've had to be patient while they waited for Marner and Matthews to show off their chemistry.

Auston Matthews - Third hattie this season Matthews delivered a hat trick in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Sabres.
Impact It's Matthews' third hattie this season, and he now sits on top of the NHL in goals with 11. He did everything in his power to put the listless Leafs on his back and carry them to a win. Matthews is doing what he can to earn his third Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy.
