Ilya Samsonov - Struggles vs. Lightning Samsonov surrendered four goals on 12 shots, prompting him to be pulled from Toronto's 6-5 overtime win over Tampa Bay on Monday.

Impact Samsonov logged 15:13 of ice time before he was replaced by Joseph Woll with Toronto down 4-1. Toronto would go on to rally, preventing him from being charged with the loss. In Samsonov's defense, the Maple Leafs did get into penalty trouble early, and two of those markers were scored during Lightning power plays. Still, this is just the latest rough outing in what's been a bad year for him. The 26-year-old is 2-1-2 with a 4.11 GAA and an .855 save percentage in seven outings.

Auston Matthews - Adds another two goals Monday Matthews contributed two goals and an assist in Toronto's 6-5 overtime victory over Tampa Bay.

Impact Is it too early to start thinking about Matthews scoring 50 goals in the first 50 games of 2023-24? We're just 12 contests in, so it is probably jumping the gun, but to already be at 13 tallies (along with five assists) is something special. Matthews' goals have come in bunches. He opened the campaign with back-to-back hat tricks and after enduring a cold patch, the 26-year-old is on fire again with another six goals over his last three appearances.

Matthew Knies - Records three points Monday Knies collected a goal and two assists in a 6-5 overtime win over Tampa Bay on Monday.

Impact Knies has three goals and seven points in 12 contests this year. That's not a bad start for the 21-year-old forward, but his offense is almost entirely due to two three-point games -- weirdly enough both against Tampa Bay. His other came Oct. 21 in Toronto's 4-3 overtime victory over the Lightning. That level of inconsistency is bound to frustrate fantasy managers, but Knies does have a lot of potential and has gotten looks in a top-six capacity.

Mitchell Marner - Has another four-point game Marner netted a goal and registered three assists in a 6-5 overtime victory over Tampa Bay on Monday.

Impact Marner not only extended his scoring streak to seven games, but he also supplied his second straight four-point performance. Through 12 outings this year, the 26-year-old has five goals and 17 points. He just barely missed the 100-point milestone in 2018-19 (94 points), 2021-22 (97 points) and 2022-23 (99 points). As long as he stays healthy, there's a good chance this will be the season Marner crosses the century mark.
