Impact Clifford scored eight goals and 20 points in 46 games with AHL Toronto last year while dressed in just two games for the Maple Leafs. The 32-year-old will likely spend most of the 2023-24 campaign in the minors.

Impact Gambrell is ready to return after being diagnosed with a concussion Sept. 27. If he goes unclaimed, he will start the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Toronto. Gambrell supplied 10 points, 45 blocked shots and 60 hits in 60 games with Ottawa last season.

Sam Lafferty - On the bubble Lafferty, who auditioned early in camp on a line with John Tavares, is on the bubble for a roster spot because of his $1.15 million salary, reports The Athletic.
Impact He earns about $375,000 more than the league minimum, and that matters a lot on a team at the ceiling. Most of Lafferty's competition makes the minimum. And he wasn't on a regular line in the final week of camp. That's never a good sign. Nylander was back on John Tavares' wing because of the emergence of 19-year-old rookie pivot, Fraser Minten, who has been lauded for his strong defensive play and impressive hockey sense.
