Impact Shepard stopped 34 of 36 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to Nashville in his last start Saturday. He's 2-0-1 with a 2.27 GAA and a .926 save percentage in three outings in 2023-24. The Devils are a difficult assignment, ranking seventh offensively this year with 3.46 goals per game.

Impact Lindgren was injured last Friday, so this move is presumably retroactive to that date. If that's the case, the 30-year-old goaltender will be eligible to play Sunday versus LA. He's 7-3-3 with a 2.27 GAA and a .928 save percentage in 15 outings in 2023-24.

Max Pacioretty - Set to make Capitals debut Pacioretty (Achilles) will make his Capitals debut Wednesday versus New Jersey.

Impact It will be Pacioretty's first game since Jan. 19, 2023. After missing nearly a year, it wouldn't be surprising if the 35-year-old initially sees limited minutes, but he should eventually settle into a top-six spot and get a significant amount of power-play ice time. His return also might result in Aliaksei Protas assuming a lesser role.

Sandin had just one point, a helper, through the first 11 games in December, but he's found a bit of a groove with four assists in the last four contests. The 23-year-old blueliner is still looking for his first goal of the season however, and he's managed a paltry 10 points in 35 games.

Impact The Capitals looked like they'd run away with the game in the first period, jumping out to a 4-0 lead, but the Pens clawed their way back and Kuemper needed to be sharp in the third, turning aside all 13 shots he faced as Pittsburgh fought for an equalizer. It was a solid bounce-back performance from the 33-year-old netminder after he's lost two straight starts and coughed up five goals in each. On the season, Kuemper is 9-8-2 with a disappointing 3.15 GAA and .893 save percentage, but if Charlie Lindgren (upper body) ends up being sidelined for a significant length of time, he could see a heavy workload.
