Gleb Trikozov - Agrees to entry-level contractTrikozov signed a three-year, entry-level contract Saturday. The deal will begin with the 2024-25 campaign.
ImpactTrikozov had 12 goals and 18 points in 10 games in 2023-24 with Omskie Yastreby of the MHL, Russia's junior hockey league. He also recorded 11 markers and 21 points in 39 appearances this season with Omskie Krylia of the VHL, Russia's second-highest hockey league. Carolina selected him with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Trikozov might eventually develop into a top-six forward, but first, he will likely spend time honing his game in the minors.

Hunter Shepard - Reassigned to AHLShepard was sent down to AHL Hershey on Saturday.
ImpactShepard was recalled when Darcy Kuemper tweaked something during practice Wednesday, but Kuemper was well enough to back up Charlie Lindgren on Thursday and Friday. Shepard is 4-2-1 with a 3.18 GAA and an .894 save percentage at the NHL level this season.

Matthew Phillips - Back to AHLPhillips was loaned to AHL Hershey on Saturday.
ImpactPhillips' last game with the Caps came on March 22, when he played just 4:15 minutes. He'll now head back to the AHL, where he has a goal and three points in five games. Overall, Phillips has a goal and five points in 31 NHL contests this season.

Brent Burns - Chips in on PP FridayBurns notched a power-play assist on six shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals.
ImpactNow with 40 points in 77 games (10G, 30A), Burns' offensive production has regressed badly following the 61 points he produced last season. He continues to see solid minutes as part of the Canes' top defensive unit (21:40 average TOI, including 2:39 on the power play), however at 38 years old, Burns simply isn't capable of producing 70-plus point seasons he did back in his heyday when he was a young stud with the San Jose Sharks. Manage your expectations accordingly.

Jake Guentzel - Erupts for three points FridayGuentzel scored two even-strength goals and added a power-play assist in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals.
ImpactThe former Penguin got Carolina on the board late in the second period after the team had fallen behind 2-0, and Guentzel then picked up a helper on Sebastian Aho's game-winner late in the third before collecting a loose puck and flipping home an empty-netter. It's Guentzel's third multi-point performance in the last four games, and over the last 12 contests he'd racked up five goals and 20 points as the Canes try to catch the Rangers for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
APRIL 6ROTOWIRE
Pyotr Kochetkov - Hangs on for win FridayKochetkov made 14 saves in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals.
ImpactThe 24-year-old netminder got beaten twice by Alex Ovechkin in the first period, but Carolina dominated play all game and wound up out-shooting Washington 45-16, giving Kochetkov a fairly easy night in the end. The timeshare with Frederik Andersen seems to be working for both goalies, and Kochetkov has gone 5-2-1 over his last eight starts with a 2.24 GAA and .913 save percentage.
APRIL 6ROTOWIRE
Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Can't generate offenseKotkaniemi skated 9:57 in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals after sitting out the previous game as a healthy scratch.
ImpactKotkaniemi's average TOI of 12:47 is a bit misleading, considering he's seen less than 10 minutes of ice time in seven of his past 11 games. He's also recorded just one assist over that span, which shouldn't be surprising considering he's been seeing mostly fourth-line duty. Needless to say, he should't be on anyone's fantasy roster right now.
