Impact Alvarez was involved in all three of City's goals on Wednesday as he set up Rico Lewis' equalizer with a through ball, then scored from a tight angle himself before forcing Sevilla into a high turnover and sliding Riyad Mahrez through for the third. This was by far his best performance so far for his new club, though he will still likely return to being a rotational player once Erling Haaland (foot) returns from injury.

Impact Alvarez was called in late due to Erling Haaland's absence from the squad but couldn't get much going against a solid defensive showing by the hosts. It's not worth getting too carried away with Alvarez until he finds his stride, as he's a young player who likely needs time to settle in at Man City. So long as Haaland needs rest on occasion, Alvarez will get plenty of minutes on the pitch to further his progress.
