He still has to undergo further testing, leaving the extent of the injury up in the air. Either way, the club will hope he is an option, as there is a chance they will have to use third option Odysseas Vlachodimos in the net if both Pope and Dubravka are out.

He conceded three or more goals in eight of his first 14 starts and then finally settled in during the month of April despite losing his two starting center-backs. Despite a solid end to the season, he was unable to help lead his side back to European football next season. With one year left on his contract, the 35-year-old is expected to serve as a backup for Pope next season.

Impact Dubravka diidn't have any work to do during the opening frame but then things changed after halftime with the opposition pressing in an attempt to get back on the game and forcing him to make a pair of nice interventions. This was the first clean sheet since Dec. 16 for the veteran goalkeeper, who will probably be back to his usual backup role once Nick Pope (shoulder) comes back from his three-month injury layoff, which could happen even in Newcastle's next game, a Mar. 11 visit to Chelsea.

Heroic on return Dubravka was back in the starting XI for Tuesday's 1-1 (4-3p) win over Blackburn in the FA Cup.

Impact Dubravka was a doubt coming into the match due to illness, but he was absolutely heroic on his start to the starting XI. The goalkeeper stopped two penalties and did enough to earn the win and a spot in the next round. Now that Dubravka is fit once more he will send Loris Karius back to the bench.

If Dubravka can't start Saturday, the club figures to turn to Loris Karius once again.

Impact Dubravka will be missing his first start since assuming the starting role from Nick Pope in December after his fellow keeper went down with an injury. He was replaced in the starting XI by Loris Karius, who will most likely stay in that role if Dubravka isn't ready by next week. However, with him only holding a minor issue in an illness, he should be expected to heal up and get the start in between the sticks against Wolves on Saturday next week.
