Joao Paulo - Tears ACLSeattle manager Brian Schmetzer confirmed Thursday that Paulo will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL he suffered in the CONCACAF Champions League Final.
ImpactThe Sounders became the first MLS team to ever win the CCL with a 3-0 win over Pumas UNAM on Wednesday, but they also suffered a blow when Paulo was replaced after about half an hour with a knee injury, that has now been revealed to be a torn ACL. The 31-year-old is a huge loss in midfield. Kelyn Rowe has been used more in defense this season, meaning that all of Paulo's potential understudies Obed Vargas (16 years old), Danny Leyva (19) and Joshua Atencio (20) are talented prospects rather than established professionals.
