Out with back injury Vargas is set to miss at least a few weeks with a stress fracture in his back, Seattle manager Brian Schmetzer said Thursday. Impact Vargas was having an excellent season, stepping into Seattle's starting lineup in defensive midfield after Joao Paulo tore his ACL in May and performing admirably, especially considering he's just 16 years old. He was set to link up with the USYNT competing in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Honduras, but that's likely off the table now as he will focus on his recovery and try to limit the amount of time he misses. Kelyn Rowe will likely be his preferred replacement in the lineup, with Danny Leyva and Joshua Atencio (undisclosed) also in the conversation.
