James Pantemis - Headed to Rose City Pantemis signed with Portland through 2025 with a club option for 2026, the club announced.

Impact Pantemis joins Portland alongside Trey Muse as Portland continues to seek a long-term answer between the posts. Either goalkeeper could have the chance for the starting job during pre-season, though Pantemis does have more MLS experience that gives him a strong chance at the top job.

Trey Muse - Signs with Portland Muse signed with Portland through 2025 with a club option for 2026.

Impact Muse is part of the Portland goalkeeper rebuild that also saw James Pantemis sign on with the club. There will be a proper pre-season battle for the top job in between the posts, so it's hard to project what sort of role Muse will have in 2024.

Felipe Mora - Efficient in small role Mora made 15 appearances (eight starts), scoring six times in 2023.

Impact Mora has been an efficient striker whenever he's on the pitch, but he struggled for minutes, earning just 815 total. The forward struggles to get in the starting XI, but if he can lockdown a consistent first choice role in 2024 he could be a major contributor.

Santiago Moreno - Productive yet again Moreno scored three goals and added six assists during 2023, making 31 appearances.

Impact Moreno had a very similar season to 2022, he played just over 2,300 minutes and made more than 30 appearances. He didn't match the seven goals he got in 2022, but he was still productive with nine total goal contributions. Moreno took 42 shots, just six fewer than 2022, and if he can finish slightly better he could be a real threat for double digit goal contributions.

Zac McGraw - Takes top job McGraw scored once and assisted once while making 28 appearances (27 starts) in 2023.

Impact McGraw finally made the step forward and took over the top job in the defense in 2023. The defender is truly stepping into his own and seems to be the top option moving into 2024 barring significant new acquisitions. McGraw's most impressive stat was 154 clearances, more than five per match.

Cristhian Paredes - Three goal contributions Paredes scored twice and assisted once in 2023 during 28 appearances.

Impact Paredes made a new career-high with 28 appearances and 1,912 minutes. The midfielder has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI but he is a versatile option who can fill in as rotation and as the first choice if someone else gets injured.

Diego Chara - Plays major minutes Chara made 29 appearances (28 starts) in 2023, creating 10 chances.

Impact Chara continued to be one of the first names on the team sheet in 2023 and he did well in that role. He might not be the most attacking option in the team but Chara does see major minutes and he has shown value on both sides of the ball.

Dairon Asprilla - Struggles to produce Asprilla scored and assisted five teams each in 26 appearances in 2023.

Impact Asprilla failed to reach double-digit goals for the first time in three years. The forward struggled with a starting XI around him that failed to find consistency and struggled for form. It wasn't a great season for Asprilla but if Portland can put together a better roster for 2024 Asprilla still has enough in the tank to thrive.

Aljaz Ivacic - Remains under contract Ivacic is under contract with Portland in 2024 after making 15 appearances in 2023.

Impact Ivacic had an eventful 2023 to say the least. He had arguments with the coaching staff, he ended up suspended, he struggled when on the pitch. It was simply a mess. Yet he heads into 2024 as the top senior goalkeeper on the roster, surprisingly giving him some sort of route into the first team for pre-season.

JANUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Larrys Mabiala - Role dwindles Mabiala made 21 appearances (nine starts) in 2023 and scored once.

Impact Mabiala had a brutal season, he fell out of the starting XI and played under 1,000 minutes for the first time since joining the club. The fact that his minutes dwindled so heavily during a season where he was a healthy is a tremendous concern going forward, and seems a likely indicator of his role being non-existent moving forward.

JANUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Dario Zuparic - Plays huge role Zuparic made 31 appearances (all starts) in 2023, scoring and assisting once.

Impact Zuparic was as reliable as he has been for the last four seasons, one of the first names on the team sheet and an anchor in the backline. The defender is showing no signs of slowing down and remains under contract for 2024, where he will be a crucial piece of the defensive unit.

JANUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Marvin Loria - Sees shaky rule Loria made 17 appearances (nine starts) and played 760 minutes in 2023.

Impact Loria's role in 2023 was disappointing, though it wasn't much different than 2022. Loria is still under contract for 2024, but it seems he is set to remain more of a depth option moving forward. Loria made his last appearance of 2023 all the way back on July 16.

JANUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Eric Miller - Sees consistent minutes Miller played 21 times (12 starts) in 2023, making 43 clearances.

Impact Miller's contract option was picked up for 2024, so he will be back with the Timbers. The defender was more of a depth option than anything else but his ability to play on either side of the defense is valuable. That said barring injuries Miller could find himself on the bench more often than not.

Diego Gutierrez - Plays minor role Gutierrez made nine appearances (three starts) in 2023, assisting once.

Impact Gutierrez had his option for 2024 picked up, a good sign that the club sees something in Gutierrez to develop. The forward wouldn't need to do much to see an increased role after playing just 243 minutes in 2023.

Impact The Timbers are acquiring a player that should start right away for Portland, and Miller was arguably one of the best players for Inter Miami in 2023, both before and after the arrival of Lionel Messi. The Canada international is in line for his sith season in MLS and has stints with Orlando and Montreal before landing in Miami. He should be a regular starter for the Timbers, regardless of whether they play with three or four at the back in 2024.
