Romain Perraud - Nets first of season Perraud scored one goal on one shot (one on target) and added two crosses (zero accurate) in Sunday's 1-1 draw with West Ham United. He also made two tackles and one clearance.

Impact Perraud isn't regularly expected to produce on the attacking end. That said, Saints supporters and fantasy managers will both certainly be pleased with the result of his deflected shot attempt during the 20th minute of this contest. He also played the full 90 for just the second time this season. The unassisted tally was Perraud's first of the year as well as the first of the match.

James Ward Prowse - Rather ineffective in draw Ward-Prowse sent in six crosses (zero accurate), made two interceptions and added four corners during Sunday's 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Impact Relative to Ward-Prowse's typical usage, this was a disappointing outing for fantasy purposes. His six crosses were a team high for Saints, but he was unable to connect on any of those attempts. That said, his role as lead set piece taker appears locked in and should help provide a decent floor on output. AFC Bournemouth presents an appealing rebound opportunity of sorts Wednesday.

Che Adams - Held scoreless again Adams took three shots (all on target) and created one chance in Sunday's 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Impact Although he didn't find the score sheet, Adams was arguably Saints' best attacker Sunday. He was relieved for a fresh set of legs in the 75th by Sekou Mara. In any event, this result marks Adams's seventh straight league start without a goal. Perhaps he can put an end to that drought Wednesday at Bournemouth.

Armel Bella-Kotchap - Suffers dislocated shoulder Bella-Kotchap reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder that forced him out of Sunday's 1-1 draw with West Ham, according to Adam Blackmore of Radio Solent.

Impact Bella-Kotchap isn't expected to be out for very long but could need a couple of weeks to make sure he's able to play. A run of nine consecutive starts is likely to end Wednesday against Bournemouth, at which point Duje Caleta-Car could replace Bella-Kotchap in the lineup.

Armel Bella-Kotchap - Forced off against West Ham Bella-Kotchap had to be replaced by Duje Caleta-Car after 42 minutes of Sunday's match against West Ham due to a suspected shoulder injury.

Impact Bella-Kotchap had started in nine straight games including Sunday but couldn't make it until halftime. With plenty of games still left before the World Cup, Bella-Kotchap will hope he's not out for long.

Moussa Djenepo - Unlikely for Sunday Djenepo has missed training all week because of illness, according to manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Impact It's unclear if Djenepo will actually miss Sunday's match, but that doesn't matter much for Southampton, as he's started just one of the last five matches. He opened the season as a left-back, but with Romain Perraud healthy again, he hasn't found a way back into the starting XI outside of a subpar start at Aston Villa before the international break.

Romeo Lavia - Could train next week Lavia (hamstring) "could return to first-team training" next week, according to manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Impact It's a positive update on Lavia, who is on his original timeline of about six weeks. He could train next week, but that still means he'll miss the next two matches, at a minimum. If all goes well, he'll be in the starting XI at least once before the end of the month.

Samuel Edozie - Training ahead of weekend Edozie (undisclosed) was seen in training ahead of Sunday's match against West Ham.

Impact Edozie seems to be available again for Sunday's match after not being in the squad for the game at Manchester City. He's played off the bench a few times and that figures to be his role going forward unless the busy schedule results in a rare start. At 19 years old, a regular spot in the squad seems unlikely this season.

Impact Bazunu was saved by the post from letting a fifth in from Erling Haaland, though he later scored to clinch the result. Until Saturday, Bazunu had conceded two goals in two games and just one goal in another five. Should his team ever figure out how to score goals, Bazunu could hold a marginal amount of value when facing easier matchups.

Impact Armstrong has started in two straight games after playing from kickoff once in the opening seven rounds of the season. With his team still in rough attacking form, Armstrong may not offer much without more favorable matchups.

James Ward Prowse - Quiet in loss Ward-Prowse created one chance on one cross and won two-of-three tackles during Saturday's 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

Impact Ward-Prowse couldn't make much headway as the hosts completed over double the amount of passes and didn't leave much space in which to work. Expect Ward-Prowse to be more active against just about any other opponent though be careful when facing sides that dominate possession even if it's not to the degree of Man City.

Mohammed Salisu - Makes five tackles in loss Salisu made five tackles (three won) during Saturday's 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

Impact Salisu returned to the lineup after getting rested in Saturday's loss to Everton but his team didn't fare much better against the top side in the league. With 23 tackles made and 10 interceptions to his name, Salisu has been decently active but has yet to earn a shutout so far.

Adam Armstrong - Creates one chance in loss Armstrong created one chance in 66 minutes of Saturday's 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

Impact Armstrong wasn't able to start in the last match against Everton but returned to the lineup and this time started as a striker in a defensively-focused formation. With one goal and one assist in nine appearances this season, it hasn't been a tremendous start for Armstrong.

Impact Walker-Peters took quite a few touches in this one, but Southampton just weren't able to get much going on the attack. His four crosses were second on the squad to James Ward-Prowse, but he was unable to connect on any of those attempts. Things don't get any easier for Saints, who head to Etihad for a date with City Saturday.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles - Makes XI debut against Everton Maitland-Niles made three tackles (one won) across 67 minutes in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Everton.

Impact Maitland-Niles had previously appeared in relief at Wolves earlier this season but was making his season debut Saturday in the starting XI for Southampton. He subbed off in the 67th minute, giving way to Samuel Edozie for rest purposes. Notably, he was unavailable off the bench for Saints' last match, so his presence in the XI is a promising sign here.
