Lorenzo Insigne - May not play on turf Insigne (not injury related) may not play during Sunday's trip to New England, according to manager John Herdman.

Impact Insigne has been the subject of rumors that he may not be willing to risk injury on turf fields and may sit out those matches. Those are unconfirmed but this from Herdman is the closest we've gotten to an official mention of this situation. If Insigne isn't playing on turf, that will open chances for Deandre Kerr or Prince-Osei Owusu.

Richie Laryea - Questionable Sunday Laryea (strain) is a doubt for Sunday's trip to New England, manager John Herdman told reporters.

Impact Laryea is a doubt as he struggles with some muscle tightness. The full-back likely won't be tested straight away after suffering the injury in the opener against Cincinnati. He's had an additional week to recover though, so Laryea could still get on the pitch if he passes the late fitness tests.

Impact Kerr is still two weeks away from making his return to the first team. The forward will likely be targeting a March 16 trip to NYC FC for his next chance. Kerr made 23 appearances and scored five goals in 2023, but will likely be a depth option for 2024.

Matthew Longstaff - Signs with Toronto Longstaff has signed a two-year contract with Toronto FC, his new club announced Thursday. The deal also includes an option for the 2026 campaign.

Impact Longstaff had been a free agent since leaving Newcastle at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, and the central midfielder will hope to see consistent first-team minutes in MLS while also proving the ACL injury he suffered in December of 2022 is a thing of the past. Given his inactivity period, it might take a while before Longstaff starts seeing regular minutes with Toronto, but he should be able to secure a starting role in midfield as the season progresses.

Richie Laryea - Suffers injury Laryea was injured and subbed out in the 70th minute of Sunday's 0-0 draw against FC Cincinnati. He recorded three crosses (zero accurate) and two tackles before exiting the match.

Impact Unfortunately for Laryea, he suffered an injury that limited him to just over an hour during Toronto FC's first game of 2024. The wide midfielder's availability will be a game-time decision going into Sunday at New England. If Laryea must sit out, Toronto will need another option to fill the flank, leaving up an open space for someone like Kobe Franklin.

With how well the center-back played Sunday, he is expected to continue being one of Toronto FC's primary defenders, at least while his form is high.

Impact Johnson saved a shot from five different Cincinnati players en route to maintaining a clean sheet during Toronto FC's first game of 2024. Having sat out almost half of Toronto's 2023 season, he will look to make his 2024 a bounce-back year and is off to a great start with his first clean sheet since May.

Adam Pearlman - Signs new contract with Toronto Pearlman has signed a new contract with Toronto FC until the end of the 2027 MLS season. The deal also includes an option for 2028.

Impact Pearlman became the 33rd player in club history to sign for Toronto's first team after progressing from the academy ranks. The 18-year-old defender made 48 appearances for Toronto FC II over the last two years at the MLS NEXT Pro level, and he'll add depth to the team's defensive line, though in reality, he's not likely to log heavy minutes unless the team deals with an injury crisis.

Shane O'Neill - Picks up hamstring injury O'Neill exited during the second half of Sunday's 0-0 draw against Cincinnati with an apparent hamstring injury.

Impact The severity of the injury is unclear, but hamstring injuries are often tricky and require at least a couple of weeks of rehab. However, it wouldn't be shocking if it's more, considering all the injury issues O'Neill had during the 2023 campaign. He should be considered questionable -- in an absolute best-case scenario -- for Sunday's match at New England.
