Returning to Vancouver Takaoka is returning to Vancouver after his contract option for 2025 was picked up.

Impact Takaoka has been the starting goalkeeper in Vancouver for two years, and while he might not be the best in MLS he has been solid. The goalkeeper should be back for 2025, where he will be the top choice in net once more, with eyes on his first season with double-digit clean sheets.

Impact Takaoka's second season came to an end with another disappointing loss to LAFC. It was a similar season to his first with Vancouver. He kept nine clean sheets and made 99 saves while conceding 50 times. That's essentially identical to his 2023 campaign, and establishes that Takaoka is still a solid, if uninspiring goalkeeper.

Impact Takaoka conceded on either side of halftime, once from the penalty spot and once from open play. It's obviously a disappointing loss, though Takaoka was individually solid. The goalkeeper was always going to struggle against a side as good as LAFC, and will need to be at his best to force a third match in the opening round.
