Emanuel Sharp - Logs career-high point total Sharp produced 20 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 6-8 FT) across 21 minutes during Monday's 84-31 victory over ULM.
Impact Despite the hyped debut of Baylor transfer LJ Cryer, it was Sharp, a returning sophomore, who took advantage of his first start by shooting 50% from three and hitting on his only two-point attempt to lead the way in scoring. Houston is a perennial defensive juggernaut but as they begin their inaugural campaign in the Big 12, Sharp and Temple transfer Damian Dunn will look to join Cryer in providing additional sharp-shooting offensive weaponry for the seventh-ranked Cougars.

Damian Dunn - Expected to go in opener Dunn (ankle) is expected to play in Monday's game against UL-Monroe, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Dunn has been dealing with an ankle injury. There was some concern it could be worse than this, but it looks like the Temple transfer avoiding anything serious. Dunn averaged 15.3 points per game last season, but it's unclear if he or Emanuel Sharp will get the start at small forward for this contest.

Mylik Wilson - Available for Houston again Wilson (hand) logged six points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal during Houston's exhibition game Saturday against UNC Pembroke.
Impact Wilson has been an integral part of a college team before. The redshirt senior averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals across his multiple seasons with Louisiana-Lafayette. But now, the question is how much he can do for a top basketball school. Wilson redshirted Houston's 2022-23 season, an excellent campaign starring fellow point guard Marcus Sasser. Following his college departure, he is expected to be replaced by LJ Cryer, a proven PG who transferred from Baylor.

Damian Dunn - Out indefinitely with ankle injury Dunn is out indefinitely due to an ankle injury, Chris Baldwin of PaperCity reports.
Impact Dunn's ankle injury indicates why he sat out when the Houston Cougars hosted UNC Pembroke for an exhibition game Saturday. In place of him, Emanuel Sharp was added to their starting lineup. Head coach Kelvin Sampson being unsure of Dunn's availability does not bode well for his participation against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 6 and beyond.

LJ Cryer - Picks up scoring slack in exhibition Cryer had 21 points (7-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists and two steals across 33 minutes in Saturday's 86-47 exhibition victory over UNC Pembroke.
Impact On a night in which point guard Jamal Shead was limited to just two points (but recorded eight assists), it was up to Cryer to lead the scoring, and he did so in an efficient manner. It was also disclosed leading up the the game that fellow transfer guard Damian Dunn is dealing with a "really bad ankle injury" and is without a return timetable, which means Cryer might have to carry even more of the scoring in the early going. The Baylor transfer averaged 15.0 ppg a season ago for the Bears.
