Impact The junior had an excellent night despite falling short, scoring a 16 point double-double in Friday's loss to San Diego State. The guard matched a season-high in rebounds with 10 as well. Sears averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season and is expected to return next year.

Scoring dropping off Sears finished Saturday's 73-51 win over Maryland with six points (1-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal across 27 minutes.
Impact Sears opened the NCAA Tournament with 15 points against Texas A&M-CC, but that happened to be the only time in his last six games he's reached double figures, and it coincided with Brandon Miller (groin) getting held scoreless for the only time this season. It's been a swift downturn for Sears, who was averaging 13.5 ppg through the season's first 30 games. The common denominator has been the re-emergence of senior Jahvon Quinerly, who was used sparingly early in the season but has been let loose of late. Quinerly is averaging 15.0 ppg over his last eight games, which times up almost exactly with when Sears' downturn began.

Impact While freshman phenom Brandon Miller gets most of the attention, Sears has consistently proven to be a valuable running mate. He's second on the team in scoring (14.0 ppg) and three-pointers made (53) while serving as the primary point guard, and has also proven valuable on the defensive end, leading the team with 1.4 steals per contest.

Impact The junior has really impressed on both sides of the ball, averaging 18.6 points and 2.8 steals in his last five games played. Sears is doing so at a consistent rate shooting 43.4 percent from the field this season. Expect the guard to continue to shine as he is one of Alabama's primary scorers.

Impact Sears was the only starter in double figures besides Brandon Miller, who erupted for a game-high 33 points. The volume was there for the newcomer from Ohio, but Sears didn't put forth the most efficient day in a matchup that might prove a good litmus test of how he'll fare against high-major competition. That being said, Alabama was down two projected starters, and it's far better to shake off the rust now than in the opener. Better days are likely ahead for Sears, who put up 19.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists with the Bobcats in 2021-22.
