Saved by FT line in loss Nowell finished Tuesday's 90-78 loss to Kansas with 23 points (5-18 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 10-11 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals over 39 minutes.

Impact Nowell posted one of his least-efficient scoring performances of the season in this commanding win for the Jayhawks. The prolific point guard was able to salvage this poor outing by getting to the charity stripe, as he's now attempted at least 10 free-throw attempts in five of the last 10 games. Nowell's extremely high scoring (17.1) and assist (8.0) averages still make him one of the most valuable fantasy players in the Big 12.

Impact Nowell nearly notched his first triple-double of the season thanks to his season-high nine rebounds versus the Gators. The 5-foot-8 point guard has averaged 16.9 points and 8.2 assists this season, netting him six double-doubles already. Nowell has also taken 11.7 field-goal tries per game over his 21 starts, so he should be expected to attempt more shots moving forward as well.

Impact Nowell led all scorers during this relatively quiet scoring performance for Wildcats forward Keyontae Johnson (3-7 FG, 1-1 3FG, 8-10 FT). The 5-foot-8 point guard also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. Nowell found a way to get back to the charity stripe again, as he'd attempted just five over the past three contests after putting up 12.7 per game through Kansas State's first three Big 12 matchups. Whether he's getting to the line or not, Nowell's 11.5 field-goal attempts combined with his team-leading 6.2 three-point tries per game should continue to net him prolific scoring to go along with his 8.2 assists per contest, which ranks second in the nation.

Impact Nowell has now put up at least 20 points in each of the Wildcats' first four conference games. The 5-foot-8 was able to do this without taking double-digit free-throw attempts for the first time during this span. Nowell has also converted 50 percent of his 8.0 attempts from beyond the arc against Big-12 foes. Nowell's solid efficiency combined with his conference-high 8.8 assists per game should continue to make him one of the nation's most productive guards while playing a career high in minutes (35.1).
