Max Brown - Could return Saturday Brown (thumb) could play during UNC Charlotte's game Saturday at the United States Naval Academy, Hunter Bailey of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact While UNC Charlotte's head coach Bill Poggi did not make it clear whether or not Brown is available Saturday, there is at least an adequate chance the quarterback plays then. In that case, there is also a possibility he serves as the 49ers' starting QB against the Navy. However, Brown being available does not mean him starting is guaranteed, especially with Deshawn Purdie serving up some decent performances during his injured teammate's absence.

Jairus Mack - 81 yards in win Mack logged three receptions (on four targets) for 81 yards during Saturday's 55-24 victory versus East Carolina.
Impact Mack recorded 81 yards in Saturday's win, his second most in a game this season. He received four targets for the second straight game, but he has only exceeded that number once in six games which is not ideal. The 49ers are not favored in any of the next four games though, which likely means the team will be forced to pass more than they did versus East Carolina.

Cartevious Norton - Scores twice in Saturday's win Norton had 10 rushes for 88 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 55-24 win over East Carolina.
Impact Norton scored his first two touchdowns of the season Saturday, an 11-yard rush early in the first quarter and then a 62-yard run at the end of the first half. He was out-shined by Hahsaun Wilson's 164-yard, three touchdown performance, but Norton has still received a slightly higher workload so far this season. The pair of backs are clearly splitting the backfield, and Wilson has proven to have the higher upside early on.

Hahsaun Wilson - Dominant in win over ECU Wilson tallied 15 carries for 164 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 55-24 victory over East Carolina.
Impact Just a week after recording seven rushing yards on five attempts, Wilson lit up the Pirates with 164 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He scored a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter, a 23-yard touchdown to open up the fourth quarter and then just a few minutes later completed the hat trick with a 65-yard house call. After an electric performance, Wilson could see an increase in his workload.

Deshawn Purdie - Leads blowout win Purdie was 13-for-22 passing for 206 yards during Saturday's 55-24 win against East Carolina. He also had six rushes for -19 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Purdie did not light up the stat sheet Saturday, but he didn't have to with how well his team was running the ball. He scored a rushing touchdown himself, his first of the season, and added a season-high 206 passing yards while completing 59 percent of his passes.

Impact Brown will reportedly be a game-time decision against the Pirates. The quarterback hasn't played since Week 2 while dealing with an injury. So far in 2024, he's thrown for 368 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while completing 52.6 percent of his passes. If Brown can't go, Trexler Ivey should continue to play for the 49ers.

Impact Blake broke out Saturday and not only had a productive fantasy outing but also made massive plays which led to the comeback win. He caught a 32-yard touchdown on the 49ers first drive of the second half, and then scored a 45-yard touchdown on the ensuing drive to take the 14-10 lead. Then, with his team down 20-14 with 90 seconds to play, he caught a 66-yard pass and set his team up at the 11-yard line. His three big plays should earn him more playing time and targets moving forward, especially if DeShawn Purdie is under center.

Deshawn Purdie - Leads comeback win Purdie was 10-for-15 passing for 183 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 21-20 victory versus Rice.
Impact Purdie replaced Trexler Ivey at the start of the second half after Ivey struggled to do anything positive during the first 30 minutes of the ball game. Purdie immediately reinvigorated the offense as he led back-to-back touchdown drives to open up the second half, both capped by touchdown passes to O'Mega Blake. Purdie's performance likely has earned him the spot over Ivey, at least until Max Brown (undisclosed) is back healthy.

Impact Ivey struggled massively in the first half Saturday as he completed just 38 percent of his 21 attempts for 54 yards and an interception. He and the 49ers failed to score a point in the first half, so he was replaced at halftime by DeShawn Purdie who led the comeback win. Given the stark difference in Ivey and Purdie's performances, it would not be surprising if Purdie took over Ivey's spot, at least until Max Brown (undisclosed) is back healthy.
