CJ Campbell Jr. - Quiet day in opener Campbell compiled 12 carries for 29 yards and gathered in 2 of 12 targets for six yards during Friday's 16-10 loss to Michigan State.

Impact Campbell led Owls' running backs in touches Friday with 14, but only gained 35 yards. He was the first running back on the field for the Owls, a signal that he won the job over Zuberi Mobley. While the Florida State transfer did not have much production, he should have plenty of opportunities versus weaker opponents.

Although it was not the ideal opener, he showed some promise that he may be able to produce, especially on the ground, against worse defenses in conference play.

The news should not be so surprising, considering less than multiple weeks have passed since FAU Owls Nest announced that Starks fell behind their QB battle. Starks' other year as a reserve resulted in limited opportunities, which he hopes is not the case during 2024.

Impact Fancher and Tyriq Starks were competing to be Florida Atlantic's starting quarterback. Considering the former led their QB battle as of Aug. 10, it should not be surprising he won out, especially with his experience compared to that of his competitor. Fancher completed 336 passes for 3,766 yards while enrolled at Marshall. However, there is some possibility his leash as starting quarterback is short, taking into account a 21:17 TD:INT ratio that requires much-needed improvement.
