Chandler Fields - Named starter vs Southern Miss Head coach Michael Desormeaux indicated Monday that Fields will be the starter for Thursday's game against Souther Miss, Wil Herren of KADN News15 reports.

Impact With teammate Zeon Chriss (leg) ruled out for this game, Fields will get the starting nod against the Golden Eagles. In relief duty during last Saturday's game, the redshirt junior quarterback completed 10 of 17 passes for 92 yards and one interception.

Impact Chriss hurt himself on a keep during an option play and needed the cart to get off the field and into the locker room. The injury did not look good at first glance, however, more clarity on the situation should be revealed after tests are done. Chriss was having an impactful game, completing 12-of-18 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown while running in a score. Chandler Fields will man the helm under center the rest of the game.
