Ketel Marte - Drills 22nd homer Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two total runs and three total RBI against the Cubs in Thursday's 6-2 victory.
Impact Marte and Tommy Pham combined to drive in all six of Arizona's runs in the win, with Marte contributing a two-run homer in the third inning and an RBI single in the ninth. The second baseman extended his modest hit streak to six games, during which he's batting .391 (9-for-23) with five extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs. Marte is up to 22 long balls on the campaign, his highest mark since he slugged 32 homers in 2019.

Tommy Pham - Goes deep twice in victory Pham went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in a 6-2 victory versus the Cubs on Thursday.
Impact Pham got the Diamondbacks off to a good start with his solo shot in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the eighth. The veteran finished with three RBI for the second straight game, and he's gone 5-for-9 with four extra-base hits over the brief stretch. Pham had been cold before the two-game surge, batting .148 (4-for-27) with seven strikeouts over his previous eight contests.

Paul Sewald - Records one-out save Sewald retired the only batter he faced to register a save against the Cubs on Thursday.
Impact Arizona led 6-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth frame, so it didn't look like Sewald would be needed. However, the Cubs scored a run on three hits and brought the tying run to the the on-deck circle with two outs, resulting in the closer getting the call. Sewald got Seiya Suzuki to ground out to end the contest and walk away with a save without needing to work up much of a sweat. It was Sewald's third save in September and his 31st overall this season.

Ryne Nelson - Nabs win in return Nelson (7-7) earned the win over the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings.
Impact Nelson spent nearly a month in the minors before he was called up to start Thursday. The time away seemed to serve the right-hander well, as he didn't allow a hit until there was one out in the fifth frame and held Chicago to just two knocks overall. As usual, Nelson wasn't overpowering -- he induced just three swinging strikes -- but this was a very positive performance considering his struggles prior to being demoted. Over his previous two starts before being sent to the minors, Nelson had allowed 12 runs on 15 hits over six innings.

Impact Pham was a factor early on. He doubled and scored in the first inning, doubled in two and scored in the third, then walked in a run and scored in the fourth. The outfielder, who recently had a 15-game hitting streak snapped, had slumped in the 10 games since (.171). His three RBI on Wednesday were the first runs batted in since the hitting streak was stopped Aug. 26.
