Impact Moreno went 3-for-8 with an RBI and a run in the first two games of the series, but he'll take a breather for Sunday's finale. Jose Herrera will step in behind the plate and bat ninth.

Impact Thomas started the past 16 games and will receive Sunday off after he posted a .592 OPS and 33.3 percent strikeout rate during that stretch. Dominic Fletcher will take over in center field and bat seventh.

Pavin Smith - Wins it with walk Smith walked off the Nationals with a pinch hit walk in the bottom of the ninth inning of Saturday's 8=7 win.

Impact He entered as a pinch hitter for Gabriel Moreno and walked in Christian Walker for the win. Smith, who initially found success upon his callup from Triple-A Reno, entered Saturday's contest with just one hit over his last 18 at-bats. He's still a lineup mainstay against righties, but a prolonged slump could change that.

Andrew Chafin - Blows save Chafin allowed three runs and an inherited runner to score on four hits and picked up a blown save in Saturday's 8-7 win over Washington.

Impact Chafin was part of a bullpen implosion that let a 6-2 lead entering the ninth inning slip away. Fortunately for Arizona's closer, Chafin avoided the loss when his teammates mounted their own comeback in the bottom of the frame. The left-hander, who's converted five of seven save chances, has pitched better (2.50 SIERA, 2.36 xFIP) than his 4.26 ERA might suggest.

Corbin Carroll - Enters as pinch hitter Carroll went 1-for-1 with a walk in Saturday's 8-7 win over the Nationals.

Impact The Diamondbacks are easing Carroll back from a minor knee issue and held him out of Saturday's starting lineup after the outfielder served as the DH on Friday. He singled in a pinch hit at-bat for Evan Longoria in the eighth inning and finished the game as the DH. His ninth-inning walk set the stage for Pavin Smith's walkoff walk. Since injuring his left knee April 29, Carroll has made three appearances (one start) as a pinch hitter and designated hitter.

Emmanuel Rivera - Gets D-backs on board Rivera started at third base and went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-7 win over Washington.

Impact Rivera got the start against a lefty ahead of Evan Longoria and gave Arizona an early lead with a first-inning homer. He's starting against lefties --at third, first or DH in the last week -- and hit safely in all games started. Overall, he's batting .423 (.455 BABIP) with one home run, two doubles, five RBI and five runs scored. There isn't a full-time role for Rivera, but he should be safe to stay in MLB for now after coming up as a replacement for struggling outfielder Jake McCarthy.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - Enjoys big day at plate Gurriel went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 8-7 win against the Nationals.

Impact Gurriel's biggest hit came in the ninth inning, when he tied the score with a solo homer off Washington closer Kyle Finnegan. The veteran outfielder finished with his ninth multi-hit game of the campaign, with the four knocks establishing a season-high mark. Gurriel has been a nice addition for a surprising Arizona squad, posting a .300/.345/.464 slash line along with three homers, 15 RBI, 17 runs and a stolen base through 119 plate appearances.

Tommy Henry - Logs quality start Saturday Henry did not factor in the decision against Washington on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters over six innings.

Impact Henry was efficient in the outing, throwing 53 of 75 pitches for a strike and completing six frames for the first time in the majors this season. Despite this strong effort, the southpaw hasn't done much to make an impression in fantasy circles, as he's posted a 5.17 ERA and 7:7 K:BB across 15.2 innings. Henry's next start is tentatively lined up to come at home against San Francisco.

Pavin Smith - Sits against southpaw Smith will be on the bench against lefty MacKenzie Gore and the Nationals on Saturday.

Impact Smith has shown more this season that he'd previously shown at the big-league level, slashing .260/.373/.440, though that comes in a small sample of 59 plate appearances. That's earned him an increasing role, as he's started against each of the last eight righties the Diamondbacks have faced, but he's been in the lineup just once against a southpaw this season.

Impact 13 of Arizona's first 33 games have come against lefties, and Perdomo has sat against every single one. As usual, Nick Ahmed will take over at shortstop in his absence.

Impact Carroll missed three games earlier this week with a knee contusion but returned to going 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk Friday, albeit as a designated hitter. His off day Saturday is presumably related to the same injury, but the Diamondbacks haven't announced a setback, so it's likely that they simply want to ease him back into action. Evan Longoria will serve as the designated hitter Saturday, while Dominic Fletcher takes Carroll's usual spot in right field.

Dominic Fletcher - Makes third straight start Fletcher started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 3-1 win over the Nationals.

Impact Fletcher was in the starting lineup for a third straight game. With Corbin Carroll returning from a knee injury, it had been assumed Fletcher's run in the starting lineup would end, but it was Lourdes Gurriel who made way for Carroll's return Friday. Fletcher has hit safely in all four games (5-for-14) since being called up from Triple-A Reno.

Impact Carroll made his return to the starting lineup after dealing with a knee issue, although it was as the DH. He launched his fifth homer of the season in the third inning, an opposite-field job that tied the game after the Nationals took an early lead. The home run extended Carroll's hitting streak to 10 games (14-for-32).

Impact Lewis was placed on the 10-day injured list April 8 with an undisclosed illness. He reportedly is feeling better and working his way back into baseball shape.

Andrew Chafin - Notches fifth save of season Chafin picked up the save in Friday's 3-1 victory over Washington. He struck out two over a perfect inning.

Impact Chafin has now tossed scoreless outings in 12 of his 13 appearances this year. The southpaw sports a 1.03 WHIP on the season, and is averaging nearly two strikeouts per inning (21 K's over 12.2 innings). The 32-year-old is a more than serviceable closer option for fantasy managers.

Merrill Kelly - Notches third win of season Kelly (3-3) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Nationals. He struck out 10.

Impact Kelly has now allowed just one run in three of his last four starts. The right-hander also had his best start of the year on Friday, setting season-highs in innings and strikeouts. The 34-year-old veteran is tentatively slated to face the Marlins at home in his next start.
