Lyon Richardson - Nabs another start Richardson is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Mariners in Cincinnati, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Richardson hasn't been especially impressive over three starts in the big leagues this season (6.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 9:11 K:BB in 12 innings), but he'll get another turn through the rotation this week after the Reds recently moved Graham Ashcraft (toe) to the 15-day injured list and placed three others (Hunter Greene, Brandon Williamson and Ben Lively) on the COVID-19-related IL. Greene, Lively and Williamson are all eligible to return by next weekend, so Richardson could end up losing his starting role following Wednesday's outing.

Connor Phillips - Confirmed to start Tuesday Phillips is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Mariners in Cincinnati, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Phillips was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday as a replacement for Brandon Williamson (illness), who became the fourth Reds pitcher to land on the COVID-19 injured list in recent days. The Reds didn't need Phillips in relief for the final two games of their weekend series with the Cubs, so the 22-year-old right-hander will end up filling a hole in the depleted Cincinnati rotation, at least temporarily. Between stops with Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga in 2023, Phillips has compiled a 3.77 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 154:57 K:BB across 105 innings.

Impact McLain landed on the injured list Monday with a right oblique strain, and while it doesn't seem like a return is imminent, there is still room for McLain to return before the end of the season. Spencer Steer has been filling in as the Reds' second baseman while McLain is out, and Elly De La Cruz has been playing at shortstop.

Harrison Bader - Swipes bag in win Bader entered as a pinch runner, stole a base and scored a run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Cubs.

Impact Bader ran for Jake Fraley, who led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a double, then stole third before coming home with the game-tying run on an Elly De La Cruz base hit. The steal was the 18th for Bader, who's notched double-digit thefts in four of the last five full MLB seasons. Hunter Renfroe - Sitting Sunday Renfroe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Impact Renfroe made his Reds debut in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader and is 0-for-9 with an RBI and a strikeout. The veteran outfielder may not have an everyday spot in Cincinnati's lineup but should still see regular at-bats down the stretch after being claimed off waivers from the Angels.

Impact The 28-year-old started in two of three games since being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, and he's gone 5-for-9 with three doubles and a run. Fraley will eventually require surgery to address the stress fracture in his fourth toe that sidelined him for most of August, and he may receive a few more off days than usual down the stretch as he plays through the injury. TJ Friedl, Harrison Bader and Will Benson will start from left to right in the outfield Sunday while Nick Martini bats leadoff as the designated hitter.

Andrew Abbott - Quality start in no-decision Abbott did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 6.1 innings in a 2-1 victory over the Cubs. He struck out five.

Impact The 24-year-old southpaw held the Cubs scoreless through 6.1 innings before Jeimer Candelario launched a solo shot, chasing Abbott from the game with a 1-0 deficit. Cincinnati scored two to secure a walk-off win and get Abbott off the hook for what would have been an unfortunate loss. This was his first quality start since he notched three in a row coming out of the All-Star break. During his six starts in the interim, Abbott posted a 6.67 ERA and 1.81 WHIP across 27 innings.
