Impact France was part of the Reds onslaught against the Marlins on Monday, blasting one of four homers by the group. It was his first homer as a member of the Reds in his fifth game since joining them. The veteran was designated for assignment by Seattle after managing a .662 OPS through 88 games and was 1-for-12 thus far in Cincinnati, so today's showing was a welcome sight.

Nick Martinez - Making start Monday Martinez will start Monday's game against the Marlins in Miami.

Impact Martinez will draw his first start since May 22, but he had already been filling the fifth spot in the rotation after he worked four innings in bulk relief behind opener Tony Santillan in the Reds' 6-3 win over the Cubs last Tuesday. He'll be taking the hill on just two days' rest after covering an inning out of the bullpen Friday against the Giants, but Martinez shouldn't be operating under any significant restrictions since he tossed just 17 pitches in that appearance. Over his prior five starts this season, Martinez turned in a 7.36 ERA across 25.2 innings.

Impact France will make a fourth consecutive start at first base, though he'll be facing off against a right-hander (Logan Webb) on Monday after his previous three starts came versus lefties. He's gotten off to a slow start to his time with the Reds, recording just one hit in 12 at-bats. While France looks fairly secure as the Reds' primary first baseman against left-handed pitching, his spot in the lineup versus righties might be on shakier ground. He could lose work against righties once the lefty-hitting Will Benson (personal) is reinstated from the paternity list.

Impact Espinal has now started six of the last seven contests and will continue to vie for playing time at third base, especially with fellow third baseman Noelvi Marte struggling with a .488 OPS. The versatile Espinal has started at second base, shortstop, third base, left field and designated hitter this season, batting .243 with eight home runs, 30 RBI, 21 runs scored and eight stolen bases across 77 games played.
