Elly De La Cruz - Doubles, steals two bases De La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI, two stolen bases and a walk in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Impact De La Cruz walked and stole second in the first inning but was also caught trying to swipe home. He last singled and scored in the fourth before knocking an RBI double during the Reds' four-run eighth inning. The star shortstop broke out of a small five-game slump that saw him go 2-for-17 entering Monday's contest. De La Cruz is now slashing .251/.344/.469 with 38 extra-base hits and 45 steals through 91 games.

Andrew Abbott - Fires seven shutout frames Abbott (9-6) allowed three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Rockies.
Impact Abbott was dominant Monday, retiring nine straight batters to begin the game and allowing just two runners to reach scoring position. He forced a season-high 19 whiffs; eight of those came via the fastball while his sweeper caused another seven. Abbott has won four straight starts and seven of his last nine dating back to May 21. He's allowed three or fewer earned runs over his last seven outings, posting a 2.70 ERA during that span. Abbott will carry a 3.06 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against Miami.

Impact Hinds was promoted from Triple-A Louisville for his MLB debut Monday and wasted no time making an impact. He doubled in the fifth inning for his first career hit before belting a 449-foot homer in the eighth. The 23-year-old produced a .698 OPS in 328 Triple-A plate appearances prior to his promotion.

Austin Slater - Joining new team Tuesday Slater won't be available to make his Reds debut until Tuesday's game against the Rockies, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Reds swung a deal late Sunday to acquire Slater from the Giants, and he apparently wasn't able to catch a flight from San Francisco to Cincinnati in advance of the Reds' series opener Monday versus the Rockies. While the Reds wait for Slater to report to the club, the team called up Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Monday to provide an extra body in the outfield after Stuart Fairchild (spine) joined fellow outfielders TJ Friedl (hamstring) and Nick Martini (thumb) on the injured list. Jake Fraley (personal) is also on the family medical emergency list, so Slater could have an opportunity to see meaningful work right away once he joins the Reds, even though he had largely been deployed as a short-side platoon outfielder throughout his eight-season run with the Giants.

Yosver Zulueta - Summoned to big leagues The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Impact Zulueta permitted one run with four strikeouts over a three-inning relief appearance in his major-league debut with the Reds last month. The 26-year-old will fill a middle relief role in Cincinnati.

Rece Hinds - Joins big-league roster The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Impact It's the first stint in the majors for Hinds, who has slashed .216/.290/.409 in 77 contests this season with Louisville. The 23-year-old has hit 13 home runs and stolen 12 bases with Louisville but also an ugly 38.4 percent strikeout rate. Hinds will provide depth for a banged-up Reds outfield corps, but it seems unlikely he'll play much.

Impact Ashcraft's latest stint in the Reds' rotation lasted three turns and he allowed 10 runs with an 8:6 K:BB over 15 innings of work. Nick Lodolo (blister) is expected back this week and the Reds have elected to keep Carson Spiers in their rotation over Ashcraft.

Stuart Fairchild - Placed on IL with back injury The Reds placed Fairchild on the 10-day injured list Monday with a spine disc injury.
Impact Fairchild evidently suffered the injury during Saturday's game versus the Tigers. He will be eligible to return at the start of the second half, but it's not clear whether he'll be ready by that time. Fairchild had been seeing regular reps in center field with TJ Friedl (hamstring) out, but those now could be handled by Will Benson and/or the newly acquired Austin Slater.

T.J. Friedl - Cleared to begin running program Friedl (hamstring) was cleared to begin a running progression during a follow-up visit with the doctor Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Friedl had already resumed playing catch and swinging off a tee, but ramping up his running will be the big test as he works his way back from a strained left hamstring. He has been sidelined for the last two weeks but could be back in the Reds' lineup shortly after the All-Star break if all goes well.

Martini was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, but Dunn entered the starting nine in the series finale as a replacement for Stuart Fairchild, who is day-to-day with a back injury. If Fairchild's injury ultimately forces him to the IL, Dunn could have a path to more consistent playing time, though the Reds swung a trade late Sunday to bring aboard additional outfield depth in the form of Austin Slater.
