Willi Castro - Productive day at the plate Castro went 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's victory over the Rangers.

Impact Castro's first RBI came thanks to savvy baserunning from Jonathan Schoop, who scored on a double play. Castro then tripled home Spencer Torkelson in the fifth inning. The shortstop's bat has woken up recently. After going hitless in two games, Castro now has five hits in his last three, including two two-hit games. He is slashing .262/.294/.369 on the season.

Ali Sánchez - Claimed by Tigers Sanchez was claimed off waivers by the Tigers and optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

Impact Sanchez was cast off the Cardinals' 40-man roster Wednesday after he slashed .255/.333/.409 with four home runs, 15 runs, 12 RBI and a stolen base in 30 games at Triple-A Memphis to begin the year. He'll attempt to carve out a role in Toledo after being claimed by the Tigers.

Michael Pineda - Slated for rehab start Tuesday Pineda (finger) will make a rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Pineda is slated to face live hitters at some point this weekend, and he'll return to game action with the Triple-A club early next week. The right-hander has been out since mid-May due to a fractured right middle finger, so it's possible that he'll need several rehab appearances prior to rejoining the Tigers. However, Pineda seems to be on track to return sometime in early July.

Tarik Skubal - Rough outing in loss Skubal (5-4) took a five-inning loss Friday against the Rangers, allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking two.

Impact Skubal is on a rough stretch in his last three games allowing a total of 13 earned runs and three home runs, giving him a 4.70 ERA in June. He was mostly inefficient against the Rangers on Friday, throwing 62 of 100 pitches for strikes in five innings. The eight hits on Friday were the most that Skubal has allowed in a game this season. The lefty also allowed the second most runs (5) and threw the second fewest strikeouts (4) of his 2022 campaign thus far. Skubal will look to turn things around in his next appearance.
