Matt Manning - Nearing rehab assignment Manning (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Impact Manning was still experiencing tightness in his shoulder in late April, but he's now thrown multiple bullpens of over 30 pitches. It's not yet clear how many minor-league appearances the right-hander will require, but a rehab assignment would likely be the final step in his recovery process.

Tyler Alexander - MRI comes back clean Alexander (elbow) recently underwent an MRI that came back clean, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Impact Alexander landed on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a left elbow sprain, but it's encouraging that he doesn't appear to be dealing with any structural damage. The southpaw had been pitching through pain for about a month, and it impacted his mechanics and may have contributed to his 8.76 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 12.1 innings over his first four starts of the year. Although the results of his MRI brought good news, a timetable for Alexander's return isn't yet known.

Alex Faedo - Set to make MLB debut Wednesday The Tigers announced that Faedo will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to serve as Detroit's starting pitcher for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Pirates.

Impact The 2017 first-round selection will be designated as the 27th man for the twin bill and make his MLB debut in the nightcap while Michael Pineda takes the hill for Game 1. Dating back to the end of the 2019 season, Faedo has tossed just 15.2 innings in affiliated ball, with Tommy John surgery plus the cancellation of the 2020 minor-league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic conspiring to keep him off the mound. However, Faedo looked plenty healthy in his debut for Toledo on April 27, covering five scoreless innings while striking out eight. Ideally, the Tigers would give Faedo more time to stretch out at Triple-A, but he'll be summoned to the big leagues due to Detroit being down several other starting pitchers as it begins a stretch of 17 games in 15 days. Faedo will likely be optioned back to the minors following the doubleheader.

Michael Pineda - Tigers-Pirates postponed Pineda and the Tigers won't play the Pirates on Tuesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit.

Impact The two teams will reconvene for a straight doubleheader Wednesday. According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, Pineda will start the first game of the twin bill, while Alex Faedo will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start the nightcap.
