Impact Cabrera entered the eighth inning with strikeouts in his first three at-bats of the contest, but he salvaged his afternoon with his first home run of the season. The veteran isn't driving the ball like he once did, though he did pop 15 long balls in 2021, which were the most he hit in a season since recording 16 home runs in 2017. Cabrera could approach that range this season if he stays healthy.

Robbie Grossman - Exits after HBP Grossman was removed from Sunday's game against the Dodgers after being hit by a pitch on the right hand, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Impact Grossman was struck on the right hand by a 92-mph pitch with runners on first and second during the second inning and remained in to run the bases, but he didn't take the field for the bottom of the frame. The 32-year-old seems likely to undergo X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and he should be considered day-to-day for now.

Derek Hill - Takes seat Sunday Hill is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Impact With four starts in the Tigers' last six games, Hill has seemingly supplanted Akil Baddoo as the team's preferred center field, though the latter will crack the lineup for the series finale. Hill's plus defense is valuable to the Tigers, but don't expect him to make a consistent fantasy impact aside from the occasional stolen base to go along with a palatable batting average. The Tigers already appeared to have pulled the plug on Hill as their leadoff man, as he moved down to ninth in the order during Saturday's 5-1 win following two straight turns in the table-setting role.

Spencer Torkelson - Gets Sunday off Torkelson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Impact Harold Castro will draw the start at first base while Torkelson exits the lineup for the first time since April 11. The rookie's move to the bench comes after a rough four-game stretch in which he went 1-for-14 with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Impact Soto blew his first save of the season in his previous outing, so while Saturday's 5-1 Detroit win didn't produce a save opportunity, it was encouraging to see the lefty bounce back. Outside of the blown save, Soto has been solid this season with a 1.29 ERA across seven innings of work. He has only five strikeouts so far, but after recording a 10.7 K/9 last year, the whiffs figure to pick up as well.

Michael Fulmer - Continues strong start Fulmer, who pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's win over the Dodgers, has yet to allow a run this season across 9.1 innings.

Impact Fulmer was effective again Saturday and recorded his third hold of the season in the 5-1 Detroit victory. The righty also has one win and one save, which has boosted his fantasy value. Gregory Soto is still the primary closer, but Fulmer certainly has an important role in the Tigers' bullpen and will remain a solid fantasy asset if he keeps pitching like this.

Jacob Barnes - Picks up second win Barnes (2-0) pitched a scoreless inning in relief and earned the win Saturday against the Dodgers.

Impact Barnes has pitched well for the Tigers with a 1.08 ERA and 0.60 WHIP across 8.1 innings, and he's now scooped up two wins in relief as well. Wins are unpredictable for middle relievers, so it's hard to say how many more the righty will get, but Barnes has at least solidified his role in the Detroit bullpen with his strong play so far.

Jonathan Schoop - Struggles continue Saturday Schoop went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Impact It's been a struggle this season for Schoop, who is batting just .145 with a .399 OPS. The veteran batted sixth Saturday and has slipped down to seventh in the order at times, so the Tigers are trying to get him going in a less prominent spot. Schoop did bat .278 each of the last two seasons, and he supplied 22 home runs and 84 RBI in 2021, so he'll likely get things going at some point based on his track record in the majors.

Jeimer Candelario - Scores twice in win Candelario went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Impact Any good performance is welcome at this point for Candelario, who came into Saturday hitless over his previous four games. The third baseman is still batting just .159 this season, but after hitting .271 last year and .297 in 2020, it seems likely that he'll get his bat going eventually. Saturday's two-hit effort was just the second multi-hit game of the season for Candelario.

Austin Meadows - Sparks offense Saturday Meadows went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Impact The Tigers aren't scoring a ton of runs, with their 64 so far this season tied for 27th in the league, but Meadows has not been to blame in his first year with Detroit. The outfielder is batting .328 with an .856 OPS and 11 RBI across 18 games. It was also encouraging to see Meadows start and play well with Los Angeles sending tough lefty Clayton Kershaw to the mound. Meadows has often sat against southpaws, but if he gets more comfortable in these matchups, his fantasy outlook should only improve.

Beau Brieske - Quiets Dodgers over five innings Brieske did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win over the Dodgers. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings.

Impact It wasn't the most dominant effort -- Brieske only had three swinging strikes on 90 pitches -- but five innings of one-run ball against this team (in Los Angeles no less) is impressive for a 24-year-old rookie. The right-hander now has a 3.60 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in his first 10 innings. Brieske has allowed a homer both times out so far and has served up three homers total, and he will need to get the long ball in check in a hurry to enjoy similar results moving forward.

Impact Vest has been a bright spot so far for the 6-13 Tigers, as the righty has a 2.08 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 10 strikeouts across 8.2 innings pitched. The 26-year-old is locked into a middle-relief role, and though he's pitched well, his fantasy value is limited at the moment because he's not in the mix for saves. That could change if anything happens to closer Gregory Soto, however.
