One out away from quality start Manning (2-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Orioles after allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while fanning three across 5.2 innings.
Impact Manning might have given up five runs and the stat line doesn't look too good, but only two of those were earned and now he's given up two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five appearances. The rookie right-hander posted a 4.07 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP across five July starts and should remain in the rotation the rest of the way as long as he stays healthy. He's scheduled to make his next start against Cleveland on the road next week.

Impact The rookie didn't pitch too badly through five innings, but Brent Rooker led off the sixth with a solo shot and Manning walked Jorge Polanco before getting the hook, with Jose Cisnero then allowing the inherited runner to score.
