Impact Jones took Kevin Ginkel 399 feet to right field to finally get the Rockies on the board in the ninth after capitalizing on a hanging breaking ball. It was his second extra-base hit and his third RBI since being called up from Triple-A Alburquerque on May 26. Jones figures to continue to get the fair share of looks at first base while C.J. Cron (back) works on his return from the IL. Even if he gets demoted once Cron returns, Jones could still receive a longer look at some point during the year, as he was dominating Triple-A before joining the Rockies, slashing .356/.481/.711 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 38 runs and a 33:43 BB:K over 39 games.

Impact Jones was recalled Friday to provide additional depth with Brenton Doyle (knee) sidelined. Since, he's started both games at first base, taking over the combination of Michael Toglia -- demoted back to Triple-A Albuquerque -- and Mike Moustakas at first base. Jones had maintained a 181 wRC+ and .504 wOBA across 187 plate appearances with Albuquerque, and it appears he'll have the chance to carry that performance into the majors.

Impact The initial belief was that Jones would be replacing Brenton Doyle (knee) on the Rockies' active roster, but it now appears that Doyle will not require an IL stint. Michael Toglia wound up being optioned as the corresponding move for Jones, who had been on an absolute heater offensively at the Triple-A level. Presuming he gets regular at-bats, the versatile 25-year-old is probably worth a try in deeper fantasy formats. He was slashing .356/.481/.711 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, five stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 39 games with Albuquerque.

Promotion expected Jones is likely to be promoted to the majors to replace Brenton Doyle (knee) on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Impact Jones made the big-league roster to start the regular season but was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in mid-April. He's maintained an impressive 183 wrC+ and .505 wOBA since, so he's earned a second look in the majors. Either he or Randal Grichuk figures to be the primary beneficiary of Doyle's absence.

Impact Jones was one of the last roster cuts this spring and was off to a blazing start at Albuquerque, batting .359/.479/.872 with six home runs and one stolen base. The former Guardian is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues in hopes he lands regular playing time, although it's no guarantee that happens.

Impact Colorado acquired Jones in a deal with the Guardians over the winter, and there had been some thought he might open the season as an everyday player for his new squad. However, the 24-year-old was shaky in his Cactus League action before the demotion, slashing just .186/.250/.233 with a 20:4 K:BB over 48 plate appearances. Jones has a chance to help out the Rockies before 2023 ends, but it'll be Elehuris Montero and Mike Moustakas who will get the majority of at-bats from the hot corner to begin the season.

Impact Jones has yet to get any reps at third base at the major-league level, but that was his primary position in the minors. He's expected to compete with Elehuris Montero for playing time at the hot corner. Jones has a good eye at the plate and lots of raw power, although that pop hasn't manifested into big home run totals in the minors. Coors Field should help out with that though, making Jones an interesting late-round upside play in fantasy if he can find enough playing time between third base and the outfield.
