Returns from IL The Twins reinstated Lewis (knee) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Impact Minnesota is adding some reinforcements to its lineup ahead of Monday's series opener in Houston, as Lewis and outfielder Max Kepler (hamstring) are both returning from the IL. Manager Rocco Baldelli hasn't gone into specifics about his plans for Lewis, but the 24-year-old should get the chance to play on at least a semi-regular basis after he looked fully recovered from the torn ACL he suffered last season during his recent eight-game rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul. While seeing time at both third base and shortstop, Lewis slashed .333/.371/.727 with four home runs and two stolen bases across 35 plate appearances. The five-category upside he brings to the table makes Lewis worth at least a cursory pickup if he's available on the waiver wire, even in shallower leagues.

Slated to return Monday Lewis (knee) will be reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Lewis tore his ACL in June of 2022 and was forced to begin the season on the 60-day IL, but he began a rehab assignment in early May and will return from the IL when first eligible. Over 10 rehab games between Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul, he slashed .333/.395/.692 with four homers, two doubles, 11 RBI, 10 runs and four steals.

Homers twice in rehab game Lewis (knee) homered twice for Triple-A St. Paul on Friday in a rehab game against Triple-A Columbus.

Impact Lewis has now homered three times in three games since having his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A, and he's hitting .500/.500/1.250 over his first five games. The 23-year-old has impressed when on the field over the past year, and he looks like the torn ACL that sidelined him for the majority of 2023 isn't bothering him. Lewis isn't eligible to come off the 60-day injured list until May 29, but he could do just that while providing plenty of fantasy relevance with his speed and improving power.

The Twins figure to proceed slowly with Lewis given how much time he's missed, but they do now have a clear opening at third base following the demotion of Jose Miranda. According to Park, the Twins are planning to have Lewis focus primarily on playing shortstop and third base during his upcoming rehab assignment, which will likely be moved to Triple-A St. Paul at some point and should last close to the maximum allotment of 20 days. The 23-year-old flashed an impressive five-tool skill set during his brief taste of the majors last season and should be a mainstay in the Minnesota lineup down the road, though he could be eased back in as a utility player in 2023 coming off major knee surgery.

Impact Lewis has been playing both shortstop and third base as he eases back into game action following right ACL surgery last June. It's not clear when exactly in May he's poised to start a rehab assignment, but he would figure to need the full allotment of games. There wouldn't currently seem to be an opening for a full-time job on the Twins right now for Lewis, but he's certainly capable of being a big factor should the need arise.
