Back with big-league club Lewis was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul by the Twins on Sunday and is starting in center field against the Royals, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Impact The 22-year-old was optioned to St. Paul on May 18 when Carlos Correa (finger) returned from the injured list, and he's now back in Minnesota after spending less that two weeks in the minors. Lewis moved around the diamond while back at Triple-A and saw playing time at shortstop, third base, left field and center field, and he's poised to fill a utility role now that he's back in the majors. He hit .308/.325/.564 with two home runs, four doubles, five RBI and five runs over his first 11 big-league games.

Impact Minnesota initially indicated Lewis would remain at shortstop after being demoted to St. Paul on May 18, but he's now also seen action at third base, left field and center field. The 22-year-old hit .308/.325/.564 with two home runs, four doubles and five RBI across his first 11 big-league games, but he was sent back to Triple-A once Carlos Correa returned from the injured list. Lewis is gearing up to rejoin the Twins in a utility role at some point, though it's unclear when exactly that may happen.

Playing third base in Triple-A Lewis will start at third base for Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Lewis is a shortstop by trade, but that position is firmly blocked by Carlos Correa for now. He impressed in his brief debut while Correa was out with a finger injury, hitting .308/.325/.564 with a pair of homers in 11 games, but he nevertheless was sent to the minors upon Correa's return from the injured list. How often he features at other positions for St. Paul could give clues as to how quickly he'll return. While previous reports indicated he'd continue to primarily start at shortstop, he'll need to get experience at other positions if he's to play alongside Correa, so his start at shortstop Friday could indicate that the Twins want to prepare him for a flexible role.

Lewis ended his first stint in the majors with a bang, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double Tuesday to bring his OPS up to .889 through his first 11 MLB games. According to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Lewis will see most of his action at shortstop as a he returns to Triple-A, though the Twins plan to move him around and give him some exposure to different positions in an effort to increase his pathways to at-bats when he makes his return to the big club.

Up despite good news for Correa Lewis will still be called up by the Twins on Friday despite the fact that Carlos Correa doesn't have a broken finger, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Lewis looked to be in line for an extended run as the Twins' shortstop, as reports from Thursday indicated that Correa had fractured his right middle finger after getting hit by a pitch. A CT scan Friday revealed that Correa hadn't in fact suffered a fracture, so he'll avoid the injured list. Lewis should get at least a start or two until Correa's swelling goes down, but he'll be in a fight for at-bats elsewhere on the diamond once Correa is ready to go.

Impact With Carlos Correa suffering a broken finger after getting hit by a pitch in Thursday's game, Lewis was the logical option to take over at shortstop. The Twins' No. 1 overall prospect and the first overall pick in the 2017 draft, Lewis has been one of the best stories in the minors this year, hitting .310/.427/.560 with three home runs, eight steals on nine attempts, a 15.5 BB% and an 18.4 K% in 103 plate appearances at Triple-A. He missed last year with a torn ACL and has come back better than ever at the plate. Correa will likely miss at least several weeks. If Lewis holds his own, he could remain up once Correa is activated, as he is capable of playing any position on the field.
