Hits clutch home run Profar went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Impact Profar's bat woke up when it mattered most, as he took Steven Okert deep in the eighth to put the Padres ahead 6-5. It was his first home run since Aug. 4 and and his first multi-RBI game since July 31. He's been the unheralded MVP offensively for the Padres this season and is well on pace to post his first campaign with an OPS of above .800 after failing to do so in his first 10 seasons. The 31-year-old is slashing .290/.387/.474 with 20 homers, 76 RBI, 74 runs, seven steals and a 57:76 BB:K in 521 plate appearances.

Faces hitters Tuesday Peralta (thigh) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Impact Peralta was cleared for mound work earlier this week, and he has now quickly progressed to facing live hitters. He remains without a firm timeline for a return to San Diego, it shouldn't take him too long to build back up as a reliever. The 33-year-old had put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 34 innings prior to landing on the injured list in July.

Back in big leagues The Padres recalled Batten from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Impact The 29-year-old has been with Triple-A El Paso since late April but will join the Friars on Tuesday as Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) heads to the injured list. Batten should serve as a depth infielder while up in the big leagues and likely won't see regular at-bats.

Placed on injured list The Padres placed Kim on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Aug. 19.

Impact Kim received somewhat favorable MRI results after he jammed his shoulder during Sunday's game against Colorado, but the team ultimately decided to put him on the shelf after further evaluation. Tyler Wade will presumably take over as the Padres' primary shortstop while Kim is out, and Matthew Batten will come up from Triple-A to provide additional depth.

Remaining on bench Tuesday Kim (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Impact The 28-year-old jammed his right shoulder during Sunday's contest and received somewhat favorable MRI results on Monday, but he'll sit Tuesday for the second consecutive. It remains to be seen if Kim will require a trip to the injured list as he continues to be evaluated. Tyler Wade is receiving another start at shortstop Tuesday for the Friars.

Records steal Monday Profar went 1-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base in a 5-3 win against Minnesota on Monday.

Impact Profar had been in a cold spell coming into the contest, going 4-for-27 with only one extra-base hit over his previous seven games. Though he had just one base knock against the Twins, he added some useful fantasy production with a pair of runs and a theft. Profar has slowed down a bit after an excellent first half of the campaign, but he's still slashing a solid .290/.388/.469 with 19 homers, 73 RBI, 73 runs and seven stolen bases over 124 contests on the season.
