Slater appears poised to continue his role as a lefty-masher this season. His career OPS against lefties (.845) is nearly 200 points better than his mark against righties (.650). That skill set should continue to keep him on a roster, but it also means he's never received more than 325 plate appearances in a season.

Impact Sam Long will follow him and is expected to work two frames. Beck, 26, posted an underwhelming 5.25 ERA in 111.1 innings last season between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento. He has yet to make his MLB debut and will enter the 2023 campaign as emergency depth for San Francisco.

Alex Wood - Will be in rotation Manager Gabe Kapler confirmed Wednesday that he views Wood as a starter for 2023, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Wood is among seven potential starters in Giants camp, and there was some doubt to his role after he finished last year with a 5.10 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 130.2 innings. He ended the season with a shoulder injury, but he was deemed healthy at the start of camp and should be able to build up as normal during spring training. Wood likely slots in toward the back of the Giants' rotation, be it a five- or six-man group at any point in the season.

Impact Jackson is almost 11 months removed from Tommy John surgery and seems to be trending well in his recovery. Impact Wisely is a left-handed hitting infielder, which is a rarity among the Giants' other infielders. Only Brandon Crawford, LaMonte Wade and Isan Diaz are also lefties among the Giants' expected major-league options to begin the year. Wisely was traded from the Rays in November and added to the Giants' 40-man roster, so he'll have a somewhat clear path to the majors as a backup middle infielder in competition with Diaz for a spot. Even then, Wisely figures to see a lot of time with Triple-A Sacramento.
