José Álvarez - Earns Opening Day win Alvarez (1-0) struck out the only batter he faced to earn the win Friday versus the Marlins.

Impact With all three of Tyler Rogers, Jake McGee and Camilo Doval used prior to the 10th inning, Alvarez was called on to get an out with two runners on. He did the job, striking out Brian Anderson on three pitches. Alvarez then became the pitcher of record when Austin Slater hit a walkoff double in the bottom of the 10th. In 67 appearances last season, Alvarez impressed with a 5-2 record, eight holds, a 2.37 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB. He's not part of the Giants' closer committee, but he should continue to see work in tight games if he can carry over his success at limiting offense -- particularly home runs -- from last season.

Impact Getting the start at second base and hitting seventh with Tommy La Stella (Achilles) sidelined for the Giants, Estrada made an impact by depositing an Anthony Bender pitch over the wall in left-center to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Estrada hit seven homers in 52 games last year in a utility role with an .812 OPS, and he's expected to see the bulk of the work at the keystone while La Stella is out.

Impact Getting the start behind the plate in the Giants' opener and hitting ninth, Bart launched a Sandy Alcantara offering to deep left-center field in the fifth inning. Buster Posey's heir apparent has big cleats to fill this season, but he at least figures to supply solid power numbers after slugging 10 homers and posting an .838 OPS over 67 games for Triple-A Sacramento last year.

Belt posted career-best power numbers last year with 29 homers and a .597 SLG, and he's picked up right where he left off to begin 2022.

Impact After Tyler Rogers had gotten the final two outs of the seventh inning and Jake McGee worked a scoreless eighth to protect a Giants lead, Doval got the call for the team's first save opportunity of the season. The young right-hander blew it in spectacular fashion, with Miami's rally being capped by a two-run blast from Jazz Chisholm, but San Francisco was able to tie it back up in the bottom of the ninth and win it in the 10th to take Doval off the hook for a loss. Manager Gabe Kapler suggested late in spring training that McGee would get most of the saves this season, and Friday's performance didn't do much for Doval's chances of changing that.

Logan Webb - Sharp in no-decison Webb didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six-plus innings. He struck out three.

Impact The right-hander blanked Miami over six frames, but after walking Joey Wendle on four pitches to begin the seventh, Webb was replaced by Dominic Leone and watched Wendle come around to score two batters later. The win then slipped through his fingers when Camilo Doval blew the save in the top of the ninth. Webb still got his season off to a flying start, and he'll look to keep that momentum going Wednesday at home against the Padres.
