Jakob Junis - Reaches deal with Giants Junis (shoulder) signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Giants on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Impact Junis isn't expected to be part of the Giants' Opening Day rotation if the team escapes spring training with its top five starters intact, but given the poor durability that the likes of Carlos Rodon, Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood and Alex Cobb have shown during their careers, the 29-year-old righty makes for valuable insurance. After working as a full-time starter for Kansas City from 2017 through 2019, Junis served as more of a swingman the past two years, accruing a 5.71 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 14.9 K-BB%. While those numbers aren't overly impressive, the Giants' ability to coax good results out of their pitchers in recent seasons will make Junis someone to keep an eye on if he gets a look in the rotation at any point.

Carlos Martínez - Signs MiLB deal with Giants Martinez (thumb) signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Impact Martinez missed the second half of the 2021 season after tearing a thumb ligament in early July, but he began a throwing program in early November and pitched in winter ball. He should compete for a roster spot during major-league spring training, and he'll make $2.5 million if he reaches the big leagues in 2022. If the right-hander's thumb injury is fully healed, he'll be in consideration for a back-end rotation role this spring.

Impact La Stella is still working to get back to 100 percent after he underwent surgery in October to address sheath inflammation of his left Achilles. He told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that Sunday's workout marked the first time he had taken part in any fielding drills since undergoing surgery, so La Stella may be hard-pressed to make it back to action before the regular season begins April 8. That being said, so long as La Stella steers clear of any setbacks in his recovery program, he should have a good shot at avoiding an extended absence to begin the 2022 campaign.

Carlos Rodón - Signs two-year deal with Giants Rodon signed a two-year, $44 million contract with the Giants on Friday which includes an opt-out after the first season, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The deal places Rodon in one of the best possible landing spots for any pitcher, as the Giants play in a pitcher-friendly park and have earned a reputation for getting the most out of their starters in recent years. That said, Rodon didn't seem to need much help making the most of his talents in 2021, as he's coming off a season in which he rode a 34.6 percent strikeout rate to a 2.37 ERA. Health is easily his most significant question mark, as he's battled arm troubles throughout his career and was used very cautiously by the White Sox down the stretch last season while he managed shoulder trouble.
