Paul Sewald - Settles for the win Sewald (10-3) got the win in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Angels, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks with three strikeouts in one inning.

Impact Sewald was brought in for the eighth inning with Seattle protecting a three-run lead and surrendered two walks before permitting a Jared Walsh homer to tie the game and blow the save. Seattle rallied with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead and put the 31-year-old in line for the win. The earned runs give Sewald only four in his last 12.2 innings, and he's struck out multiple batters in three of his last five outings.

Chris Flexen - 5.1 strong innings Flexen got a no-decision in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Angels, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with one strikeout in 5.1 innings.

Impact Flexen pitched well in Saturday's win, permitting just one run on a Jose Rojas home run in the fifth inning, but was saddled with the no-decision as Seattle's offense didn't get going until late. After sitting out 2020, the 27-year-old concludes the campaign with a 14-6 record in 31 starts with a 3.61 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 125:40 K:BB in 179.2 innings.

Julio Rodríguez - Won't play winter ball Rodriguez will not play in the Dominican Winter League, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Impact Rodriguez will instead remain in Arizona and Florida to train for the 2022 season. As expected, he has had a strong 2021 campaign with the Mariners' minor-league affiliates, most recently putting up a .362/.461/.546 line while striking out at just an 18 percent clip across 206 plate appearances with Double-A Arkansas. Rodriguez likely won't begin next season in Seattle, but a debut within the first few months of the campaign appears realistic.

Joe Smith - Hits injured list Smith was placed on the injured list with an undisclosed injury Saturday, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Impact Smith last pitched Sept. 29, when he was asked to record only one out. Since joining the Mariners on July 27, he has maintained a strong 2.12 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 17 strikeouts across 17 innings. Andres Munoz was reinstated from the injured list Saturday and could help fill in out of the bullpen.

Andrés Muñoz - Surprise activation Munoz (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Impact Munoz underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2020, though he only began throwing off a mound in July of this year after suffering a setback. However, he has progressed well since, throwing a total of 3.2 innings on a rehab assignment -- most of which came with Triple-A Tacoma. He isn't likely to serve in a high-leverage role out of the bullpen immediately, but he could contribute to the Mariners' final push for the playoffs.

The rookie's penchant for timely hits has been a bright spot in an otherwise difficult campaign for Kelenic, as he carries an unsightly .178/.260/.350 slash line into the final two games of the regular season.

Impact Torrens reached safely for the third time in the last four games with his second triple of the season, which was one of the few offensive bright spots for the Mariners in the disappointing loss. Torrens is wrapping up the regular season in fine fashion at the plate, as he's hit .354 (23-for-65) with three doubles, Friday's three-bagger, a home run, eight RBI, two walks and eight runs across his last 22 games.

Impact Gonzales had to settle with an unfortunate loss due to the lack of run support, but the veteran ended the season on a strong note since he recorded five straight quality starts. The left-hander, who posted a 3.75 ERA since the beginning of September, ends the campaign with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP across 143.1 innings (25 starts), and he's now posted an ERA below the 4.00 threshold in each of his last three seasons, all of them with Seattle.
