Impact Nootbaar's 11-game hitting streak came to a close, but he was still productive in his one trip on base Tuesday. The steal was his sixth of the season and his first since May 12. The outfielder is up to a .257/.356/.382 slash line after his recent surge, ans he's added six home runs, 27 RBI, 40 runs scored and 12 doubles through 65 contests this season. Nootbaar has split time between left field and center field lately, but he'll likely be at the latter position full-time once Tyler O'Neill (back) returns from the 60-day injured list Thursday. Dylan Carlson and Alec Burleson are expected to see reduced roles.

Impact Donovan tied the game at 1-1 with his sixth-inning solo shot. The utility man is still about a week away from returning to the field while battling an arm injury. Impact Romero's clean nine-pitch inning set the stage for Nolan Arenado's walk-off blast in the bottom of the 10th. Impact VerHagen landed on the injured list at the beginning of July with a right hip impingement after attempting to pitch through it for three weeks. It's unclear how long the Cardinals plan on keeping VerHagen in the minors, but it's likely he returns to the bullpen before the end of July.

Impact Arenado plated the majority of the Cardinals' runs in the contest, notching an RBI single in the third inning, a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a two-run double in the sixth. The veteran third baseman tied a season high with the four RBI, and he's accomplished that feat four different times during the campaign. Arenado is enjoying a very productive July, slashing .340/.393/.745 with four homers, seven doubles, 14 RBI and nine runs over 13 games.

Impact Mikolas was coming off a start against Washington just three days earlier during which he tossed only 34 pitches in a game that was suspended due to inclement weather. Because of the brief nature of that outing, the right-hander was able to take the mound again Monday on very short rest, and he handled a full workload with 92 pitches across six frames. Mikolas gave up a pair of homers but managed to hold the Marlins to just three runs and notch his eighth quality start of the campaign. The veteran hurler hasn't quite matched his strong numbers from last season, but he's been a mostly steady arm for St. Louis with a 4.14 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 83:24 K:BB over a team-high 121.2 innings.
