Tyler O'Neill - Starting rehab assignment Tuesday O'Neill (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Impact O'Neill will serve as Memphis' designated hitter Tuesday before eventually playing the outfield, provided he passes a variety of stress tests. The outfielder has been on the shelf since early May with a lingering back injury but finally began experiencing improvement following a pair of injections last month. O'Neill could return shortly after the All-Star break if all goes well.

Steven Matz - Drawing start Wednesday Matz will start for the Cardinals on Wednesday in Miami, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports.

Impact The Cards needed a spot starter following a doubleheader over the weekend. Matz has posted a 1.98 ERA since being demoted to the bullpen a month ago, which includes 6.2 scoreless frames over his last two appearances. That was preceded by a 5.72 ERA in 10 starts, though, making him a poor streaming option especially since he won't be ready for a full workload.

Alec Burleson - Back on bench Burleson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Impact Burleson started in all three of the Cardinals' games versus the Yankees over the weekend, going a collective 3-for-10 with a double, two walks, two runs and an RBI. However, he had started just once in the Cardinals' nine games prior to that, and his increased playing time may have more to do with Brendan Donovan sitting out two of those contests with a sore arm. With Donovan healthy again after returning to the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 win over New York, Burleson's opportunities may be limited moving forward.

Brendan Donovan - Idle versus lefty Donovan is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Impact Donovan previously sat out both ends of a doubleheader Saturday against the Yankees while battling an arm injury, but he returned to the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 win over New York and went 3-for-4 with a home run. The Cardinals haven't indicated that he suffered a setback during that contest, so the lefty-hitting Donovan's absence from the lineup Monday likely has more to do with the fact that the Marlins are bringing southpaw Braxton Garrett to the hill.

Impact Carlson was a defensive replacement for Jordan Walker in the seventh inning. In the eighth, Carlson took advantage of some sloppiness from the Yankees to manufacture the Cardinals' fifth run. The outfielder has hit .275 with an .864 OPS over 17 games since he returned from an ankle injury in early June, though he hasn't fully reclaimed a starting spot in the lineup. He's slashing .245/.320/.391 with five home runs, two steals, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored over 169 plate appearances this season.

Impact Donovan returned to the leadoff spot after not appearing in Saturday's doubleheader and picked up right where he left off with his second home run in his last three games. The 26-year-old has cemented himself as the Cardinals' leadoff hitter against righties, and has rightfully earned it, as he's slashing .325/.428/.513 with six homers, 15 RBI, 19 runs and a 15:15 BB:K in his last 32 games after struggling to get going in April and the large majority of May.

Jordan Montgomery - Dominates Yankees for win Montgomery (6-7) earned a win over the Yankees on Sunday, allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings.

Impact Montgomery was in command versus his former team and held the Yankees hitless until Gleyber Torres doubled off him with two outs in the sixth. His two hits allowed was a season low and he continued his streak of dominance since the end of May. Over his last seven starts, Montgomery has a 1.66 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB in 43.1 innings.
