Impact Edman took a changeup offering from Sean Manaea over the wall in center field for his fourth home run of the season and the third over his last six games. He would reach again on a fielder's choice in the eighth and later score in the inning. The 27-year-old has turned it up at the dish over the last week, slashing .353/.450/1.059 with three homers, seven RBI, six runs and a 3:0 BB:K. Even with his recent surge at the plate, Edman is still seeing himself bat at the bottom of the order against righties while he's near the top of the lineup against lefties.

Joc Pederson reached to kick things off on an error by Tommy Edman and Mike Yastrzemski followed with an RBI double. The right-hander retired the next two batters before Blake Sabol crushed a slider to center field to walk it off for the Giants. The 2022 All-Star is now 3-for-6 in save chances over the first month of the season and owns a 1.93 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 13:4 K:BB over 9.1 innings. Manager Oliver Marmol has not commented on the current closer situation for the Cardinals, but it could be assumed that Helsley's grip on the role is lessening, after Giovanny Gallegos has yet to give up a run over 8.1 innings so far this season.

Jake Woodford - Fares well in no-decision Woodford allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the Giants. He struck out four.
Impact The Giants scrapped out a run against Woodford in the second inning after Thairo Estrada singled, stole second base and wound up scoring on a throwing error. Woodford would later surrender a solo home run to Mike Yastrzemski in the fourth and then retired the final seven batters he faced before being lifted in sixth. The 26-year-old has been a serviceable rotation member for the Cardinals outside of his first start of the year. He now sits at a 5.47 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 16:7 K:BB over 24.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up to face the Dodgers in Los Angeles over the weekend but there's a real chance that Adam Wainwright (groin) returns from the IL and takes his spot in the rotation.

Taylor Motter - Sent outright to Memphis Motter cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact Motter was cleared off the 40-man roster after hitting just .222/.300/.333 over plate appearances and being designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Sunday. The veteran infielder will give the team some depth in Triple-A, but he'll need to be added back to the 40-man in order to receive a promotion back to St. Louis.

Impact Rodriguez threw eight pitches in the contest with six landing for strikes.
