Paul DeJong - Likely to be activated Sunday DeJong (back) will join the Cardinals in Seattle on Sunday and will likely be activated off the injured list, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Impact DeJong has been out for the entirety of the season so far while recovering from his back injury. The 29-year-old will likely be back on the roster for the finale against the Mariners, and he should serve in a utility role while he's a member of the club.

Michael McGreevy - Moves up to Triple-A McGreevy was promoted to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Impact McGreevy began the year with Double-A Springfield after producing an unremarkable 4.64 ERA in 20 starts there last season. The Cardinals evidently didn't need to see much to move him up to the next level, as he got the call after recording a 1.45 ERA in three starts. Getting to the doorstep of the big leagues presumably puts him in consideration for a promotion later this season, though he's not yet on the 40-man roster.

Brendan Donovan - Sitting Saturday Donovan will hit the bench Saturday against Seattle.

Impact Donovan returned from a left shin abrasion Friday but went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts, dropping his slash line to a modest .254/.311/.388. He homered twice in the opening series but hasn't cleared the fence since. Nolan Gorman will be the second baseman Saturday, with Alec Burleson serving as the designated hitter.

Impact Walker comes with a ton of prospect pedigree, and while his .271/.311/.400 slash line (98 wRC+) in his first 19 games isn't amazing, it's at least a fairly respectable start to his career. The Cardinals have a crowded outfield and expect to compete this season, however, so it's not too surprising to see him hit the bench for the second time in four games. Lars Nootbaar slides to right field, while Dylan Carlson starts in center.

Impact Matz has struggled to start off the year, posting a 6.55 ERA through his first four appearances. The former Met and Blue Jay has a track record of quality seasons under his belt; most recently in 2021 (14-7. 3.82 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). While the southpaw has plenty of time to regain that form, fantasy managers shouldn't bank on him at this moment.

Adam Wainwright - Confirmed for rehab start Tuesday Wainwright (groin) will make his next rehab start for Double-A Springfield on Tuesday against Wichita, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Impact Wainwright will throw around 75 pitches against the Wind Surge in his second rehab start since being placed on the injured list with a groin strain. The right-hander could return to the Cardinals rotation shortly after to make his season debut in what has been announced as Wainwright's final season in the majors, but that will at least be partially be determined by his results for Springfield on Tuesday.

Impact Hudson was sent to Triple-A Memphis ahead of the season to build up his velocity on the mound, but he'll now be sidelined for at least a week, if not longer. Without any clarity on the specific injury he's dealing with, it's hard to predict his future.
