Impact After back-to-back scoreless frames, Woodford got into trouble during the second time through the order and surrendered a two-run double to Willy Adames in the third. Adames also hit a solo home run in the fifth to extend Milwaukee's lead to 3-1, ending Woodford's outing. The right-hander has now given up nine runs, including four homers, over his first two starts this season after posting a 2.23 ERA as a reliever in 2022.

Paul DeJong - Moving rehab to Triple-A DeJong (back) is expected to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Memphis beginning Monday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Impact DeJong has gone 1-for-9 with two RBI, a run scored and three strikeouts over three games with Single-A Palm Beach. While the results aren't there, the rehab is more about getting the shortstop reps in the field and at the plate after injuries disrupted his participation in spring training. With Brendan Donovan and Tommy Edman hitting fairly well already, it's tough to project what kind of role DeJong might fill once he's ready to rejoin the major-league roster.

Packy Naughton - MRI reveals no structural damage Cardinals manager Oli Marmol told reporters Sunday that an MRI revealed that Naughton has a left forearm strain with no structural damage, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact Naughton was placed on the injured list with the forearm strain Saturday, but it appears he's avoided a potentially long-term injury. Marmol mentioned that the left-hander's recovery process will be formed over the next couple of days. It's possible Naughton is able to return to a relief role with St. Louis before the end of April.

Adam Wainwright - Another bullpen coming Tuesday Wainwright (groin) completed a bullpen session before Sunday's game against the Brewers and will throw another session Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact The Cardinals and Wainwright will figure out the next steps for the right-hander after he repeats his workload from Sunday on Tuesday. Jones notes that will likely include hitters and could be a rehab appearance or a live BP setting. Wainwright is on the injured list with a groin strain just before the start of the season, and he has a chance to return to the St. Louis rotation before the end of April.

Impact His two-run blast in the third inning off Eric Lauer gave the Cards a 4-0 lead, but more importantly it gave Arenado his first homer of the year and the 300th of his career. Impact The southpaw's only spot of trouble came in the third inning, as the Brewers loaded the bases with two outs, but Montgomery got Christian Yelich to ground out and didn't allow another baserunner to get into scoring position the rest of the night. Montgomery has been outstanding to begin his first full season with the Cardinals, posting a 2.25 ERA and 12:3 K:BB through his first 12 innings, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, likely to come next week at home against the Pirates.
