Impact Crowe was called upon to protect a two-run lead and worked around a one-out single to tally his third save of the season. With David Bednar (back) unavailable, the closer role could be up for grabs in the short term in Pittsburgh. While Yerry De Los Santos once appeared to be next in line for save chances, Crowe followed him into the game Tuesday. Crowe has quietly had a strong season, maintaining a 3.16 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 56:24 K:BB across 57 frames.

Takes third loss Crowe (2-3) allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out three across 1.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Tigers.

Impact Crowe struck out the side in the seventh inning but allowed three consecutive singles to begin the eighth. He's primarily been used for single frames in recent appearances, and even after taking the loss Wednesday Crowe has maintained a 2.08 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB across his last 10 appearances.

Impact David Bednar was called upon to cover two innings Monday, so he wasn't available Tuesday. Crowe was able to deliver his second save of the season, retiring Kevin Pillar and Mookie Betts on flyouts before ending the game with a Freddie Freeman groundout. Crowe has filled a versatile role in the bullpen this year, though his previous save was of the three-inning variety against the Cubs on April 13. He's at a 2.35 ERA, 1.01 WHIP And 30:13 K:BB with a 2-2 record, three holds and two blown saves across 30.2 innings in 20 appearances.

Impact Crowe served as the opener and worked two fairly effective innings before giving way to Mitch Keller. Impact Facing the team that drafted him in the second round in 2017 before trading him this past offseason as part of the package for Josh Bell, Crowe didn't exactly take his revenge, tossing 46 of 78 pitches for strikes before getting chased from the game after a three-run fourth inning. The right-hander has lasted at least five innings only once in his last seven outings, posting a rough 7.36 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over that stretch, but his 29:15 K:BB over those 29.1 innings does offer a glimmer of upside, and Pittsburgh has nothing to lose by letting the 27-year-old take his lumps down the stretch.
