Fifth-Place at LVMS Bowman finished fifth in the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Impact Bowman rebounded well from his disqualification disappointment at the Roval last week. The driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet qualified well and ran a steady and smart race. Bowman didn't have the speed to lead laps but he'd run within the Top 10 for a majority of the 400 miles. The veteran driver would get past Martin Truex Jr. late to earn a strong fifth-place finish in Vegas. It was his eighth Top 5 of the season.

The suspicion is that when Bowman hit some of the curbing hard on the Roval Sunday that he may have dislodged and lost a ballast weight from the car. The penalty drops Bowman from the Round of 8 field and instead advances Joey Logano into the next round of the NASCAR playoffs.
