Earns 2021 Rookie of the Year Stewart-Haas Racing driver Briscoe officially earned the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors Sunday, NASCAR.com reports.

Impact For the second-straight season Stewart-Haas Racing claims the ROTY honors with Briscoe. He followed on Cole Custer's strong 2020 campaign to earn the rookie award for the SHR stable. Briscoe finished the season 23rd in the driver points with three Top-10 finishes. The young driver will look to make gains in 2022 with the same No. 14 SHR Ford team.

Impact Briscoe was slated to start pretty far back anyway at 26th, so this penalty shouldn't be too much of a factor. The much larger concern for Briscoe's prospects this week is the lack of speed from SHR at the 550 horsepower tracks.
