Crash and DNF at Atlanta Larson crashed and finished 37th in the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.

Impact Larson would have liked for his Chase playoffs to have started better, but he run into trouble at Atlanta Sunday. The Hendrick Motorsports star would be running up front near the end of stage 1. He would have a tire fail on his No. 5 Chevrolet while navigating turn 2 and collect the outside wall as well as the No. 14 Ford of Chase Briscoe. The accident would bring out the caution and conclude stage 1. Larson's machine as well as Briscoe's would be done for the day. He'll look to rebound next weekend at Watkins Glen.

Impact Larson performed admirably in his first Indy 500 start of this past season. He qualified fifth on the grid and battled among the Top 10 at times before fading to 18th-place in the 33-car field. It was a very educational introduction to IndyCar for the NASCAR champion. Larson made no bones about his desire to race in the big event again next season. "I would love to. We're still working on it," Larson said. "It's progressing. So I like that, but obviously things can always change."

Impact Larson dominated the evening at Darlington Raceway. He led a race-high 263 laps and swept the first two stages. The Hendrick Motorsports star would be in full control until a late caution and restart. Chase Briscoe would make a power move past him on lap 338 and never look back. Larson would end up losing a late battle with Christopher Bell and eventually finishing fourth. It was his 10th Top-5 finish of the season.
