Mechanical Failure and DNF Gibbs suffered a mechanical failure and finished 36th in the Bank of America ROVAL 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

Impact The Joe Gibbs Racing youngster started mid-pack and looked to carve out a possible Top-10 finish. Gibbs would break into the Top 10 by the end of stage 1. However, he would develop some kind of transmission or engine problem on lap 56. The No. 54 Toyota would slow on track bringing out the caution. Gibbs would get it to the garage area for the day and retire with just his third DNF of the season.

Fifth-Place in Hollywood Casino 400 Gibbs finished fifth in the Hollywood Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway Sunday afternoon.

Impact The Joe Gibbs Racing youngster collected his eighth Top 5 of the season with a strong performance at the Kansas track. Gibbs started on the outside pole and led 5 total laps for the day. He'd race among the Top 10 for the full 400-miles. Gibbs would get past Alex Bowman down the stretch and earn a solid Top-5 finish in the Hollywood Casino 400.

Leads Bristol Practice Gibbs was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 124.718 mph.

Impact Gibbs beat out a collection of Ford and Chevrolet drivers in this lone practice ahead of pole qualifying at Bristol. He edged Ryan Blaney to top the scoring pylon after this 45-minute session. Gibbs has led significant laps in the last two Bristol events and looks poised the challenge the Top 5 Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Fifth-Place at Daytona Gibbs finished fifth in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway Saturday night.

Impact Gibbs shook off some recent bad luck in superspeedway racing and turned in a great finish Saturday night in Daytona. The young JGR driver came from 26th on the starting grid and would stay out of the multiple accidents that would decimate the field. Gibbs would battle it out on the last lap for the win, but would come home an impressive fifth-place at the overtime checkered flag. It was his seventh Top-5 finish of the 2024 season.

The young driver of the No. 54 Toyota started mid-field on the grid Sunday and would use the first stage to pick his way forward. Gibbs would break into the Top 5 by the end of stage 2 and remain there the rest of the way. The double overtime finish would put him in the mix to win, but Gibbs would do well to hold off Kyle Busch to grab third-place in Michigan. It was his fifth Top 5 of the season.

Engine Failure Gibbs suffered an engine failure and finished 27th in the Great American Getaway 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway Sunday afternoon.

Impact After starting on the pole and leading 21 laps early, Gibbs would run into trouble later in the race. On lap 132 his engine would let go in the No. 54 Toyota and the damage would be terminal. After putting down fluid on the track and bringing out the caution, Gibbs would take his mortally wounded car to the garage. The DNF was a disappointing end to what could have been a very good performance.

Third in Grant Park 165 Gibbs finished third in the Grant Park 165 NASCAR Cup Series race at the Chicago Street Course Sunday evening.

Impact Gibbs had an all-around impressive weekend in Chicago. After qualifying on the outside pole, he'd lead a race-high 17 laps and battle at the front for most of the race. With darkness approaching and several cautions slowing the end of the race, Gibbs had a shot at victory. But he couldn't chase down Alex Bowman in the closing laps and would lose one spot to Tyler Reddick to finish third. It was Gibbs' fifth Top 5 of the season and snapped a five-race Top-10 drought.
