The 29-year-old is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he logged 49 catches (on 63 targets) for 493 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games for the Bengals. With the Jets, Uzomah is in line to serve as the team's top pass-catching option at tight end, a role that could yield fantasy utility in 2022 should the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder click well with second-year signal-caller Zach Wilson.

Impact Uzomah was able to play through the MCL sprain of his left knee in Sunday's Super Bowl LVI matchup with the Rams, securing both his targets for 11 yards in the Bengals' 23-20 loss. The 29-year-old is coming off a career year, having racked up 493 yards and five touchdowns on 49 catches in the regular season. The fact that he's headed for another MRI could suggest that surgery might be on the table for Uzomah, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year in mid-March.

Impact Since suffering an MCL sprain in the AFC Championship Game back on Jan. 30, Uzomah was held out of practice entirely during the first week of Super Bowl prep, only to manage a limited session this past Thursday before upgrading to full Friday. Despite entering the weekend as questionable to play Sunday, both the tight end and coach Zac Taylor expressed optimism along the way that Uzomah would be available. Indeed, after taking part in pregame warmups -- per Goldsmith -- Uzomah will suit up in the biggest contest of the Bengals' campaign. In 19 appearances (including playoffs) this season, Uzomah averaged 4.2 targets per game en route to a 62-628-6 stat line.

Should Uzomah deal with a late setback or have his role scaled back on account of the MCL sprain, Drew Sample would be next in line for snaps and targets at tight end. If Uzomah plays, as expected, the Bengals' inactive list will solely consist of healthy scratches ahead of the 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday evening.

Impact Uzomah returned to practice Thursday for the first time since spraining his left MCL in the AFC Championship game back on Jan. 30 and in the process was listed as a limited participant by the Bengals. Friday's session is slated to be lighter than Thursday's practice, but as long as the tight end avoids any setbacks he appears to be moving in the right direction in advance of Sunday's contest.
