Titans, Chargers face off with AFC playoff implications

The Los Angeles Chargers will host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in a game with playoff implications for both teams

Impact Considering that Tannehill has started each of the past five weeks following a two-game absence due to the ankle injury, the Titans never seemed to have much concern about his availability for Sunday's game against the Chargers after he opened Week 15 prep as a limited participant Wednesday. His restrictions a day ago were likely just maintenance-related, and his ability to take every rep Thursday clears the way for him to direct the Tennessee offense this weekend. Since returning to the lineup Week 10, Tannehill has completed 65 percent of his passes for 8.1 yards per attempt and a 7:2 TD:INT while carrying 12 times for 68 yards in five outings.

Impact Haskins missed back-to-back games due to a hip issue, but he's logged his first full practice since suffering the injury and is trending toward suiting up Sunday against the Chargers. If available, the rookie fourth-round pick will presumably reprise his role as the team's primary kick returner and could operate as the No. 2 back behind Derrick Henry, as Dontrell Hilliard (neck) has already been ruled out for Week 15.

Impact Tannehill played through the ankle issue after initially suffering the injury against Philadelphia in Week 13, yet after logging a limited practice Wednesday of last week Tannehill would eventually shed the injury designation by Friday. Hopefully he follows that same pattern for Week 15, in which case he would mostly be his usual self against the Chargers.

Impact Board was inactive for Week 14 due to a rib injury and remains sidelined to start Week 15 prep. He'll have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, but the undrafted wideout out of Chattanooga is currently trending toward a second straight absence.

Impact It's not clear what Woods is dealing with, but if he misses a second day of practice Thursday then it would add yet another layer of concern for his fantasy prospects in the Titans offense. Woods' opportunity level continued to be fair enough against the Jaguars on Sunday, drawing seven or more targets for the fifth time this year, but with just 38 receptions, 406 yards and one touchdown to show for 68 targets it's clear Woods doesn't need any additional difficulties.

Impact With head coach Mike Vrabel confirming earlier Wednesday that Burks was still in the concussion protocol, the rookie wideout's continued absence from practice isn't unexpected. If Burks can get back on the practice field in some capacity Thursday and/or Friday in addition to gaining clearance from an independent neurologist, he'll still have a chance to play Sunday against the Chargers.

The 30-year-old safety stepped up into a near-every-down role starting Week 7, though he's started seeing his usage shift more toward special teams over the past three games. Nevertheless, Adams still played 56 of Tennessee's 72 defensive snaps behind top safeties Kevin Byard (72) and Amani Hooker (63). Adams has now logged a career-high 51 tackles over 10 games this season, and he should continue serving a prominent role against the Chargers in Week 15.

Impact Rice started at inside linebacker Sunday after David Long landed on injured reserve with an elbow injury sustained Week 13 against Philadelphia. With Zach Cunningham (elbow) also still on IR, the 23-year-old Rice finished with a team high in tackles despite playing eight fewer defensive snaps than fellow linebacker Dylan Cole (59) in Week 14. Rice has now totaled 19 tackles while stepping into a larger role over the past two games, and he's likely to continue seeing prominent usage Week 15 against the Chargers.

Impact Bullock has failed to make multiple field goals in five consecutive games, and Sunday marked the third time that he has not made any field goals in a contest this season. He did convert his two lone chances of the game, knocking in a pair of extra-point attempts. Bullock has been accurate this season, but the poor state of the Titans' offense has limited his chances to make an impact.

Impact Chestnut was elevated from the practice squad for the second time in as many weeks ahead of Sunday's loss to Jacksonville. With Hassan Haskins (hip) inactive and Trenton Cannon (knee) on IR, the undrafted rookie served as Tennessee's third-string running back behind Dontrell Hilliard, who was forced out with a neck injury. Chestnut did not record a rush across his seven offensive snaps, but he did haul in both of his targets for eight yards. He also returned two kickoffs for 53 yards across 12 special-teams snaps. With Hilliard already ruled out Week 15 versus the Chargers, it's likely that Chestnut would be elevated to serve as Tennessee's No. 2 running back if Haskins also remains sidelined.
